European auto stocks sink as U.S. tariffs on Mexico, Canada kick in
Shares in European carmakers and automotive suppliers fell sharply on Tuesday, after U.S. tariffs of 25% took effect on imports from Canada as well as Mexico, a major automotive supply and manufacturing hub for global firms.
The STOXX Europe 600 Automobiles and Parts index fell the most since September 2022, and was down 5% in afternoon trading, reflecting exposure to the tariffs, with companies such as Volkswagen, Stellantis and BMW all have manufacturing sites in Mexico.

Gold reclaims Rs 89,000-mark as tariff war worries boosts safe haven demand
Gold prices on Tuesday zoomed by Rs 1,100 to reclaim the Rs 89,000 mark in the national capital on increased buying by jewellers and stockists and strong global trends, according to the All India Sarafa Association. The metal of 99.9 per cent purity rallied by Rs 1,100 to Rs 89,000 per 10 grams from the last close of Rs 87,900 per 10 grams.

Sales and profits slipped for Target during the crucial holiday quarter as customers held back on spending and the company said there will be “meaningful pressure” on its profits to start the year because of tariffs and other costs. The retailer beat most estimates however, and shares rose 4% before the opening bell.
Target reported net income of $1.1 billion, or $2.41 per share, far better than the $2.26 that Wall Street was expecting, according to a survey by FactSet. That is down from the $1.38 billion profit the company reported in the same period last year, though the most recent quarter had one fewer week.
Sales fell to $30.91 billion from $31.9 billion, but that also beat expectations.

Reliance Industries seeks extension for EV battery plant setup
Reliance Industries electric vehicle battery-making unit has asked the federal government for more time to set up its manufacturing plant as part of a production-linked incentive scheme, the Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate said on Tuesday.
The conglomerate did not specify the length of the extension sought or the reason for the delay.
In March 2022, Reliance secured incentives under the government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to establish 5 gigawatts (GW) of local manufacturing capacity for advanced chemistry cells (ACCs).
The 181-billion-rupee ($2.07 billion) scheme required companies to set up manufacturing facilities within two years.

Sebi's total income rises 48% to Rs 2,075 cr in 2023-24
Capital markets regulator Sebi's total income rose 48 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,075 crore in 2023-24, driven by increased earnings from fees and subscriptions. Of the total income, the regulator earned a fee income of Rs 1,851.5 crore, which was way higher than Rs 1,213.22 crore garnered in the preceding financial year, according to Sebi's annual statement of accounts 2023-24 made public on Tuesday.

Real estate services firm SILA on Tuesday said it has received a strategic investment from Mahendra Singh Dhoni family office. The company did not disclose the amount invested.

Equity mutual funds lose upto 27% in 2025 so far
Equity mutual funds have lost upto 27% in the current calendar year so far. There were 280 funds. Samco Flexi Cap Fund lost the most in the current calendar year. It went down by 27.30% in the same period. Motilal Oswal ELSS Tax Saver Fund and Samco ELSS Tax Saver Fund delivered a negative return of 25.98% and 25.74% respectively in the said period. LIC MF Small Cap Fund and HSBC Small Cap Fund went down by 25.67% and 24.48% respectively in the mentioned period.

Wiping off billions of dollars from investor portfolios, Nifty50 index on Tuesday recorded a historic 10-day losing streak, the longest since its official launch in April 1996. India's IIFL Finance plans to raise up to $150 million by reissuing its 8.75% 2028 dollar-denominated bonds, according to two sources familiar with the matter on Tuesday.
The non-banking finance company has begun marketing the issue and may sell the bonds at yields in the range of 8.30%-8.40%, the sources, who requested anonymity, said.
