Getty ImagesApollo Tyres Ltd.(up 2.24 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.04 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 1.78 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.62 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.49 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.14 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.09 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.68 per cent at 21101.4 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 68.65 points at 22613.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 186.27 points at 74526.36.
