Created and directed by Ram Madhvani, the series is “inspired by true events” and offers a fresh perspective on the brutality of British rule. It attempts to unravel the hidden conspiracies and power struggles that culminated in the mass killing at Jallianwala Bagh, where British officer Reginald Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on a peaceful gathering, leaving hundreds dead and thousands injured. The massacre, which took place during Baisakhi celebrations, was a response to protests against the draconian Rowlatt Act, which allowed the colonial government to imprison Indians without trial.
The story is centered around Kantilal Sahni, played by Taaruk Raina—a lawyer appointed by the British government as part of the Hunter Commission to investigate the incident. As he digs deeper, he uncovers disturbing truths about the imperialist mindset, systemic oppression, and the extent of white supremacy that fueled such atrocities. Through Sahni’s journey, the series sheds light on the cold and calculated mechanisms of colonial rule and the price India paid for its resistance.
The ensemble cast includes Nikita Dutta, Sahil Mehta, Bhawsheel Singh, Alex Reece, and Paul McEwan, bringing to life a crucial chapter of India’s fight for independence. The trailer has already generated a wave of anticipation among viewers. Social media is abuzz with reactions, with many praising the intensity of the story and the powerful background score. Some fans admitted to watching the trailer multiple times, calling it “absolute bomb,” while others lauded the performances and direction.
