As global concerns over climate change intensify, carbon information disclosure has emerged as a critical factor influencing firm value. However, the relationship between carbon information disclosure and firm value remains inconclusive in the existing literature, particularly within the context of China’s evolving environmental policies. This study investigates the impact of carbon information disclosure on firm value while examining the moderating role of green innovation and the moderating moderated effect of environmental regulation. Drawing on stakeholder theory, resource-based theory, and institutional theory, this study constructs a comprehensive research framework and employs panel data regression analysis on a sample of 1753 firm ten-year observations from A-share listed companies in China between 2013 and 2022. The results reveal that carbon information disclosure significantly enhances firm value, and green innovation positively moderates this relationship. Furthermore, environmental regulation strengthens the moderating effect of green innovation, acting as a leverage effect that amplifies the financial benefits of carbon information disclosure. These findings highlight the importance of integrating regulatory policies with corporate sustainability strategies. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the synergistic effects of carbon information disclosure, green innovation, and environmental regulation, offering insights for sustainable corporate development. Radiometric vegetation indices are considered good indicators of vegetation health and can contribute to explaining its current and future evolutions. This study is carried out in the arid mountain rangeland of Toujane (southeast of Tunisia). The aim is to predict how climate change will affect the Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) values under dryland conditions. Current and future SAVI indices are analyzed using the maximum entropy algorithm (MaxEnt). The Canadian Earth System Model version 5 (CanESM5) represents the data source of two future climatic scenarios. These last, called Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP245, SSP585), concern four time periods (2021–2040, 2041–2060, 2061–2080, and 2081–2100). Three topographic, twelve soil, and nineteen climatic variables are undertaken during each period. The main results of the jackknife test show that temperature, precipitation, and some soil variables are the main factors influencing SAVI indices. Specifically, they affect plant growth and vegetation cover, which in turn modify the SAVI index. Based on the area under the receiving curve, the model shows high predictive accuracy for a high SAVI (AUC = 0.88 − 0.92). These findings show that land management strategies may be incumbent upon to reduce the vulnerability linked to climate change in Toujane rangelands. Full article

Recent research in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry has concentrated on reducing specific power consumption (SPC) during production, which helps to lower operating costs and decrease the carbon footprint. Although reducing the SPC offers benefits, it can complicate the system and increase investment costs. This review investigates the thermodynamic parameters of various natural gas (NG) liquefaction technologies. It examines the cryogenic NG processes, including integrating NG liquid recovery plants, nitrogen rejection cycles, helium recovery units, and LNG facilities. It explores various approaches to improve hybrid NG liquefaction performance, including the application of optimization algorithms, mixed refrigerant units, absorption refrigeration cycles, diffusion–absorption refrigeration systems, auto-cascade absorption refrigeration processes, thermoelectric generator plants, liquid air cold recovery units, ejector refrigeration cycles, and the integration of renewable energy sources and waste heat. The review evaluates the economic aspects of hybrid LNG systems, focusing on specific capital costs, LNG pricing, and capacity. LNG capital cost estimates from academic sources (173.2–1184 USD/TPA) are lower than those in technical reports (486.7–3839 USD/TPA). LNG prices in research studies (0.2–0.45 USD/kg, 2024) are lower than in technical reports (0.3–0.7 USD/kg), based on 2024 data. Also, this review investigates LNG accidents in detail and provides valuable insights into safety protocols, risk management strategies, and the overall resilience of LNG operations in the face of potential hazards. A detailed evaluation of LNG plants built in recent years is provided, focusing on technological advancements, operational efficiency, and safety measures. Moreover, this study investigates LNG ports in the United States, examining their infrastructures, regulatory compliance, and strategic role in the global LNG supply chain. In addition, it outlines LNG’s current status and future outlook, focusing on key industry trends. Finally, it presents a market share analysis that examines LNG distribution by export, import, re-loading, and receiving markets. Full article

Standardized frameworks for interpreting medical images, such as the radiological Reporting and Data Systems (RADS), are designed to improve the consistency and accuracy of radiological assessments across different imaging modalities, anatomical locations, and disease processes. Clear communication and information sharing between radiologists and referring physicians, including surgeons, is a key goal of the RADS guidelines. Therefore, familiarity with these guidelines is crucial for all physicians involved in patient care. This review synthesizes current RADS guidelines relevant to surgical practice. Our analysis identified 28 radiological RADS with potential applications in surgical workflows, primarily in oncology. Of the RADS examined, nine were validated by the American College of Radiology (ACR), one was validated through a collaboration between the ACR and other scientific societies, and seventeen were developed by other scientific organizations. Numerous surgical specialties may encounter RADS in clinical practice, including neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, endocrine surgery, breast surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, gynecological surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency surgery, and surgical oncology. The effective utilization and validation of RADS necessitates close collaboration between radiologists and surgeons, coupled with widespread education for all healthcare professionals involved in patient care. Artificial intelligence software will play an important role in facilitating the dissemination and use of RADS in clinical practice. Full article

The sharing of DNA sequence data is essential for advancing medical technology and fostering innovation in healthcare. However, DNA sequences encode sensitive information, such as gender, physical attributes, and genetic predispositions, necessitating stringent privacy safeguards. Existing data-sharing frameworks often fail to adequately address these privacy concerns. To overcome these challenges, this study proposes a blockchain-based, privacy-preserving ecosystem for DNA sequence sharing. The system employs a decentralized architecture to manage digital identities and access permissions, ensuring robust privacy and data security. Smart contract functionalities allow users to assign granular access controls to specific DNA sequence segments, enabling selective sharing with trusted recipients. Furthermore, research institutions are required to obtain certification and classification from governmental authorities, enhancing trust and system reliability. The user-centric design prioritizes privacy, security, and autonomy, simplifying operational processes and fostering user trust. By incentivizing DNA data sharing, the proposed model aims to accelerate medical advancements while maintaining stringent privacy protections, establishing a secure and scalable ecosystem for DNA sequence sharing. Experimental results from a prototype implementation indicate that the system achieves a throughput of up to 10–20 transactions per second for identity and access operations while incurring acceptable on-chain costs (≈1.3 million gas to deploy contracts and 400–800 k gas per user registration). These performance metrics underscore the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed approach. Full article

The Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS) method allows for the real-time tracking of changes in multiple sensory attributes, such as taste, aroma, and texture, during food tasting. Over the past decade, it has become an essential tool in sensory evaluation, offering novel insights into temporal sensory perception. When combined with the Temporal Liking (TL) method, TDS enables the investigation of how sensory changes influence instantaneous liking. Existing methods in time-series sensory evaluation have not simultaneously achieved the following two key objectives: (1) predicting TL curves from TDS curves and (2) identifying shared sensory–liking synergies across samples. In this study, we address this gap by applying supervised non-negative matrix factorization, which enables both precise prediction and interpretable synergy extraction. This novel approach has the potential to extend the applicability of TDS analysis to broader sensory evaluation contexts. We validated the method using the data for strawberries recorded in an earlier study. Our model, utilizing three latent synergy components accounting for 94% of the data variation, accurately predicted the TL curves from TDS curves with a median RMSE of 0.36 in cross-validation, approximately 1/16 of the maximum TL score. Moreover, these synergy components were highly interpretable, suggesting some key factors that explain individual variations in sensory perception. These findings highlight the effectiveness of synergy analysis in time-series sensory evaluation, leading to deeper understanding of the connections between temporal sensory and liking responses. In the current context of severe environmental challenges and climate change, the low-carbon green development model has become an international consensus. This study establishes a green supply chain duopoly competition model, considering two types of government subsidies and data-driven marketing (DDM) to help achieve supply chain development. The aim of the research is to explore how to provide green subsidies, enhance green levels, maintain competitive advantage, and improve profits in supply chain enterprises with inconsistent green levels. The study discusses the impact of green consumer preferences, market competition, and DDM quality on the profits of supply chain enterprises. It also analyzes how to use supply chain contracts to achieve coordination and optimization within the supply chain. The findings are summarized as follows. (1) As consumer preferences for green products increase, the unit subsidy model continues to enhance performance and market share more effectively than the total subsidy model. (2) The unit subsidy model requires a more relaxed subsidy coefficient, making it easier for enterprises to develop without needing high subsidies. It consistently achieves better total performance, particularly with improved DDM quality. (3) Manufacturers and retailers can achieve a win–win situation through internal coordination of the supply chain via wholesale price contracts. (4) Under certain conditions, consumers more sensitive to green products will increase the product pricing of both M1 and M2. The level of greenness of M2 will also increase. But also, the wholesale and retail prices of M1 will decrease because of the effect of DDM. (5) The effect of the intensity of market competition on pricing decisions is more complex. Under certain conditions, the market competition coefficient has a positive impact on the pricing of M1 and a negative impact on the pricing and green level of M2. This can be changed due to an increase in the level of DDM quality, where an increase in the market competition coefficient results in lower pricing for M1 and higher pricing for M2. The green level for M2 is also improved. In addition, the improvement in DDM quality consistently has a positive impact on pricing decisions and green levels for M2. Pricing decisions for M1 are affected differently, depending on the customer’s sensitivity to DDM. Full article

Chest wall perforator flaps (CWPFs) are a promising option for partial breast reconstruction but are underutilized, particularly in resource-limited settings. This retrospective observational study explores the feasibility and impact of CWPFs in breast-conserving surgery at our single-surgeon center, where 203 procedures were performed between 2018 and 2023. We evaluate 200 cases treated after multidisciplinary tumor board discussions and shared decision-making, assessing clinicopathological data, surgical outcomes, oncological results, cosmetic outcomes, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). The median age of patients was 52.5 years. Single CWPFs were used in 75.9% and dual flaps in 24.1%. Sentinel node biopsy was performed in 76.9% of malignant cases, with no positive margins. Minor complications occurred in 11%, and no major complications were reported. At a 27-month median follow-up, the overall survival rate was 97.5%, with a disease-free survival of 92.1%. Cosmetic outcomes were good-to-excellent, and PROMs indicated high satisfaction. This largest single-surgeon study from Asia demonstrates the transformative role of CWPFs in breast conservation surgery for Indian women with sizable, locally advanced tumors. The technique offers excellent oncological and cosmetic outcomes, reduced costs, and a shorter operative time, highlighting the need for oncoplastic algorithms in resource-limited settings to improve breast conservation accessibility. Background/Objectives: Childhood trauma is associated with psychiatric sequelae beyond post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including eating disorders (EDs) and cognitive dysfunction. While eating pathology is related to cognition irrespective of childhood trauma exposure, such experiences may influence the way in which these symptoms develop. One method that has garnered increased interest in studying the interrelationships between symptoms and pinpointing core features of psychopathology is network analysis. Methods: Using data from the Nathan Kline Institute Rockland Sample, the present study utilized network analysis to examine associations between ED symptoms and cognitive deficits among a community sample. Comorbidity networks were constructed in two samples: adult reporters of childhood trauma (n = 116) and non-reporters (n = 101). Results: In line with the cognitive-behavioral model of EDs, overvaluation of weight/shape was central to both networks but demonstrated higher strength centrality among trauma reporters. Additionally, among trauma reporters, executive functioning deficits were linked to food-related attentional biases; alternatively, affective symptoms were salient among non-reporters. Finally, negative self-concept (theorized as a putative consequence of cognitive deficits) was implicated in both networks. When comparing the networks according to global strength, we did not find significant differences. Conclusions: Our findings contribute to the literature examining the interrelatedness of eating pathology and cognition and extend these findings by considering the role of trauma exposure. While our networks shared features of overvaluation of weight/shape and negative self-concept, they differed according to cognitive-affective concomitants. This information holds clinical utility in advancing assessment and intervention for individuals with eating psychopathology. Full article

Emotional contagion is a common phenomenon among hotel employees, creating an environment of shared emotions that can influence work-related outcomes such as job performance, job satisfaction, and psychological well-being. However, strategies to mitigate or regulate its effects in hotels remain underexplored. This quantitative study used the PLS-SEM data analysis approach to examine the influence of emotional contagion on these outcomes and explores how psychological resilience and leader–member exchange (LMX) can moderate its impact. Specifically, this study examines (1) the direct influence of emotional contagion on job satisfaction, job performance, and psychological well-being; (2) the mediating role of psychological well-being in the links between emotional contagion and both job performance and job satisfaction; and (3) the moderating roles of LMX and psychological resilience on the relationships between emotional contagion, psychological well-being, job satisfaction, and job performance. Drawing upon social and emotional resource theories, this study employs a quantitative approach and uses a structured questionnaire survey administered among frontline employees in hotels in Egypt. Based on the valid responses of 792 participants, the study employed the PLS-SEM data analysis method using Smart PLS 4.0. The findings reveal that emotional contagion significantly directly impacts workplace outcomes and through psychological well-being. Furthermore, high-quality LMX and greater psychological resilience buffer the negative effects of emotional contagion, underscoring their critical roles in the workplace. The study contributes to the organizational behavior literature by highlighting the interplay between emotional and psychological factors in shaping employee performance and satisfaction. Background: The use of complementary integrative medicine (CIM) by cancer patients is currently very common. The main reasons why patients turn to CIM are to improve quality of life (QoL) and support the immune system. Unfortunately, many patients rely on CIM self-prescription, neglecting the risk of interactions with anticancer treatments (ACTs). The primary objective is to demonstrate the feasibility of combining CIM and ACT in a multidisciplinary approach to improve the QoL of cancer patients and to reduce ACT’s adverse events. Methods: Cancer patients were treated with CIM by expert physicians. CIM mainly consisted of vitamins C and D, the medicinal mushrooms blend U-CARE, and probiotics administered alone or in combination. The patients were followed-up by physicians and data were recorded in a detailed shared file. Results: A total of 54 cancer patients were treated with an integrative approach, especially during ACTs. The combination showed a good safety profile. No adverse events occurred in 92.6% of patients, whereas only 7.4% of patients experienced gastrointestinal or liver toxicity from the CIM approach. The main benefit of the CIM approach was improved fatigue and QoL, and this was mainly achieved by the concomitant use of polytherapy-based complementary medicine (PCM) and U-CARE. The toxicity improvement was mainly associated with the use of solely U-CARE. Conclusions: These results highlight the feasibility of the CIM approach in cancer patients addressed by a multidisciplinary team of experts in the field. The patient-centered and evidence-based approach of CIM is an example of the comprehensive and coordinated strategy pursued by the EU in its programmatic document against cancer aiming to focus on the QoL of patients and to avoid potentially harmful CIM self-prescription. This study investigates how ESG (environmental, social, and governance) performance influences the corporate value of publicly listed sports companies in China, with a focus on the mediating role of intangible assets and the moderating effect of the policy environment. Analyzing panel data from 41 A-share sports firms over 2009–2023 using a two-way fixed-effects model, the findings reveal that a robust ESG performance significantly enhances corporate value by strengthening brand equity and optimizing resource allocation. Intangible assets, particularly brand value, serve as pivotal mediators in translating ESG efforts into market value. Furthermore, the policy environment plays a critical moderating role: state-owned enterprises (SOEs) exhibit amplified ESG-driven value creation due to stronger policy support and resource advantages. Robustness checks, including an instrumental variable analysis, reinforce the reliability of these conclusions, highlighting the interplay of ESG, intangible assets, and policy in driving long-term competitiveness within the sports sector. By addressing the unique dynamics of ESG in the sports industry, this research bridges a gap in the sector-specific literature and underscores ESG’s strategic importance in fostering sustainable business growth. The results provide actionable insights for corporate managers to align ESG strategies with brand development and for policymakers to design targeted frameworks that incentivize sustainable practices. As the use of personal mobility (PM) devices continues to rise, regulatory violations have become more frequent, highlighting the need for technological solutions to ensure efficient enforcement. This study addresses these challenges by proposing an AI-based enforcement platform. The system integrates the You Only Look Once version 5 (YOLOv5) object detection model, a deep-learning-based framework, with Global Positioning System (GPS) location data, Raspberry Pi 5, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for data processing and web-based implementation. The YOLOv5 model was deployed in two configurations: one for detecting electric scooter usage and another for identifying legal violations. The system utilized AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to store violation records and host web applications. The detection performance was evaluated using mean average precision (mAP) metrics. The electric scooter detection model achieved mAP50 and mAP50-95 scores of 99.5 and 99.457, respectively. Meanwhile, the legal violation detection model attained mAP50 and mAP50-95 scores of 99.5 and 81.813, indicating relatively lower accuracy for fine-grained violation detection. This study presents a practical technological platform for monitoring regulatory compliance and automating fine enforcement for shared electric scooters. Future improvements in object detection accuracy and real-time processing capabilities are expected to enhance the system’s overall reliability. Full article

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness among parents regarding oral hygiene habits in two different national groups and to raise awareness among parents about oral hygiene education. Methods: A sample of 640 parents from Rome (Italy) and Valencia (Spain) was collected. The survey involved children between 0 and 18 years of age. An online questionnaire was administered to gather information regarding demographic data, the level of knowledge about dental caries and its transmission, proper oral hygiene habits of parents with regard to their children, mothers’ attitudes towards their own oral health before or during pregnancy, awareness of risk behaviors, such as the use of pacifiers or baby bottles, sharing cutlery, the use of the same toothbrush in the entire family, the role of schools, and oral health prevention techniques. Results: The comparison between the two groups shows that Spanish parents are more attentive to oral hygiene measures compared to Italian parents, especially about the knowledge of dental caries and its transmission, oral health check-ups during pregnancy, and proper oral hygiene habits. In both groups, there is still little knowledge about oral prevention methods. Conclusions: From the results of our survey, we can conclude that the knowledge regarding oral hygiene among parents from both countries is not yet optimal when compared to international health objectives. It is necessary to promote oral health prevention programs both in schools and within families in order to improve children’s oral health. Full article

Over the past decade, there has been a notable increase in the utilization of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer care, transforming the therapeutic landscape for several types of solid tumors. This development has not only expanded the indications for treatment but has also significantly influenced management strategies and prognostic outcomes for specific subsets of cancer patients. In contrast to the general population of cancer patients, individuals diagnosed with both HIV and cancer encounter significant differences in treatment approaches and outcomes. Consequently, this population demonstrates a significantly increased rate of specific mortality for several common types of cancer. Recent studies have reported significant insights into the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors among this patient group. However, the data remain insufficient, and there are still recognized barriers and limitations regarding the use of these agents in cancer patients. Real-world data and reports from clinical practice offer critical perspectives, enabling the sharing of clinical experiences and assisting in navigating complex management decisions. This report outlines two cases of patients with concurrent HIV and cancer who were administered ICIs in diverse clinical settings, highlighting the necessity of cooperation between oncologists and HIV specialists to provide patients with cutting-edge and increasingly tailored treatment options.
