Build, produce, transport and trade, in cooperation or competition with other players. Choose from dozens of production buildings that can be combined to form complex production chains. Send your ships across the world to obtain raw materials or find markets for your end products. Find other players to cooperate or compete with, while you train new skills and upgrade your production methods.

Largely on the strength of first impression. I too love deep simulation games and looking forward to seeing where this goes.

This game is awesome. It is already in a really good state and still has a lot of potential. I always enjoyed games that try and simulate markets. And this one is pretty good. It rewards careful planning and has some intricate mechanics.

I always end up trying to produce everything for myself, but now understand that sometimes you have to rely on others.

Overall, 9/10

Mercatorio is a great economic game, with a true market and no money sinks or taps (besides minting money). The many buildings and production methods in it mean that there's several different playstyles one can choose, and strong competition both from players and bots always keeps you on your toes. The game is still in development, but the dev is very active, and if you point out an issue to him, it's usually fixed within the same day. Similarly, if you have an idea on how to make the game better, he usually incorporates those in an update. 'm a big fan of economic games, city builders, spreadsheet games and such, and overall, this game is exactly what I've been looking for for a very long time.
