There are two really important steps to being a great startup investor: 1. Send money in the most frictionless way possible 2. Use your networking energy to get portfolio companies that can help each other For my 30 years of being a startup investor, I have tried to be someone that lives by those two simple rules. These past few weeks I have had a ton of opportunities to exercise rule #2. One of those occasions happened just last week, when I put long time portfolio companies, Dokkio and InfluenceLogic together to symbiotically help each other. Dokkio was looking for a plan to expand their customer base via performance-based influencer marketing and InfluenceLogic is the world's leading influencer-based sales agency. I made the connection by putting Matt Castaldo from Dokkio & Samantha P. from InfluenceLogic together. From there, each of them did their expert work to find a way to make both of their companies successful in the engagement. Great startup investors understand that using their network to help foster symbiotic wins for portfolio companies is a core part of being useful. In this case, I am glad that it worked out for Dokkio and InfluenceLogic.

  • New Year, New Habits! 🎆

Growth Executive | Connecting Brands & Creators to Drive Customer Growth

🎉 New Year, New Opportunities—But What About New Habits? 🎉 As we enter 2025, it’s that time of year when many of us reflect on the past and set ambitious resolutions for the future. Personally, I love this process—it feels like a fresh start, a blank page. But if I’m being honest, I’ve also fallen into the same trap many of us do. I’ve set big, exciting goals in January, only to feel the enthusiasm fizzle out by February. Sound familiar? This year, I’ve been reflecting on why that happens. And it led me back to a book that has profoundly shaped how I think about personal and professional growth: James Clear's Atomic Habits. One of the most powerful ideas in the book is this: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” Think about that for a second. Big dreams don’t create change—consistent actions do! It’s not about flipping a switch and suddenly being the “new you.” Like a coach once told me: “Aim to be 1% better than you were yesterday, and after a year, you’ll be amazed at your progress.” It’s about committing to small, sustainable habits that compound over time. 👑 Want to improve your leadership? Start by making it a habit to ask one thoughtful question in every meeting. 🏃 Want better health? Commit to drinking one extra glass of water daily or take a 10-minute walk after lunch. 📈 Want to grow in your career? Spend 15 minutes daily reading an article, watching a video, or networking with someone you admire. These aren’t big, flashy changes, but that’s the point. As Clear explains, small improvements compound—just like interest in a bank account. And let’s face it: life gets busy. It’s easy to let big goals feel overwhelming, especially when progress feels slow. But when we focus on systems—the small actions we repeat daily—suddenly, growth feels manageable. So, this year, I’m shifting my mindset. Instead of focusing on massive, transformative goals, I’m focusing on the tiny habits that will get me closer to where I want to be because I’ve learned that consistency beats intensity every time. How about you? What’s one habit you’re committing to this year? Big or small, I’d love to hear—let’s inspire each other and make 2025 a year of sustainable growth! #NewYearResolutions #AtomicHabits #GrowthMindset #ConsistencyIsKey

  • A great reflection from Cassandra S.! How will you boost your EQ in the New Year? 📚

VP, Brand Partnerships at InfluenceLogic, Passionate Performance-Based Growth Marketer scaling incremental brands sales through the power of YouTube influencers

Reflecting on 2024: Relationships and EQ As the year winds down, I’ve noticed a common thread in my professional wins—strong relationships. Many of the opportunities I’ve had at InfluenceLogic came through connections built over the last 10 years: former colleagues, agency partners, clients-turned-referrals, or past clients bringing me along to new companies. These wins didn’t happen by chance. They came from genuine care, shared experiences, and consistently showing up for the people I work with. Building strong relationships takes intention and effort, and I’ve learned that emotional intelligence (EQ) is a key ingredient. While some are naturally great at it, the good news is anyone can improve their EQ with self-awareness, practice, and feedback. Why does EQ matter? It helps you communicate better, resolve conflicts, make smarter decisions, lead effectively, and build stronger personal and professional relationships. People with high EQ inspire, influence, and handle stress more effectively—and that often leads to success. As you set goals for 2025, I encourage you to invest in your EQ. Here are a few books that have helped me: Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman Harvard Business Review’s 10 Must Reads: On Emotional Intelligence Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson Have other book recommendations? Drop them in the comments—I’d love to add to my reading list! #emotionalintelligence #relationshipbuilding #partnershipmarketing #affiliatemarketing #brandsales #brandpartnerships

Creator Partnerships at InfluenceLogic | Connecting mission driven creators with brands that make a difference in the world

I just wrapped up a creator call that got me thinking. They asked me, “what type of brands does your agency work with?” The creator mentioned that they were impressed that the answer wasn’t simply fluff. Candidly, it wasn’t the first time I got this reaction, and I never gave it too much thought. But this time it hit me: there’s something deeper here. Most people expect a generic response, something like “We work with X category or Y vertical.” And sure, those answers help align with creators’ aspirations or agent rosters. But we’re doing so much more than that. We’re working with brands that truly change lives. From improving mental health to simplifying healthcare. From helping people save money, to protect their identities, and even get affordable college degrees, we are as mission driven as the brands we work with. Birds of a feather flock together, we just added 17 new brand partners in Q3 and Q4 of this year alone. If you or someone you know is on a mission to help people, let’s connect. I’d love to ensure the right folks at our company talk with you. Who knows? Maybe you’ll become part of our growing family too.

Has been a really big second half of the year for Wasabi Ventures, LLC portfolio company, InfluenceLogic. Just did an update call with the leadership of their brand team yesterday and in the last six months they have signed and onboarded 17 new brands (!). InfluenceLogic was already the leading performance-based influencer sales agency in the world and adding so many new brands to the mix has them poised for massive growth in 2025. NOTE: They already manage the two largest YouTube brand programs in the world.) What was even more amazing about the brand growth for them is that they have expanded well beyond the traditional b-to-c, direct to the consumer brands. They are executing on brands that are enterprise software, productivity, fin-tech, and communications solutions as well. Amazing growth from this company in the last eight years since our investment!

Growth Executive | Connecting Brands & Creators to Drive Customer Growth

I'll let you in on a little secret about influencer marketing... Quick spikes in engagement from one-off campaigns are nice, but let’s be real: developing lasting partnerships with creators is where the real magic happens. Long-term partnerships don’t just boost ROI; they build trust, authenticity, and a brand story audiences believe in. Creators are more than just content machines—they’re entrepreneurs and storytellers who can make your brand genuine and relatable. In my latest article, I share strategies for building partnerships that go beyond “we pay, you post.” Learn how to: 🎯 Find the right creator for your brand. 🤝 Treat creators as partners, not billboards. 📆 Build consistency with a sustainable program that audiences trust. 📈 Measure success beyond the dollar signs (but yes, those matter, too). Ready to ditch the “one-and-done” approach to influencer marketing? Check out the full article for tips on developing long-lasting relationships with creators. 👇 Connect with me, and let’s build something meaningful. #influencermarketing #creatorpartnerships
