How does your game fit the theme?
The game involves needing to manage a city as it is getting progressively more flooded from a storm occuring. Theres a relatively calm early game where you can build anywhere and then eventually everything becomes flooded in late game as the storm gets stonger
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes

What would I like about the game?
Really love the overall game design. It is really hard to make a strategy game that works, more so in such a short amount of time, so my hats off to the developers on that. The graphics and the sound design is really nice. The system with different types of resources work really well together. It's just enough resources to make me have to do good decisions, but not too many to make it overwhelming. Finally, I love the flood mechanic keeping me worried and planning for the future. This works really well with the theme as well.
What would I change about the game?
A little bit for feedback would have been nice. At first it was difficult to see where I had to assign people to the quarry and the lumber mills (maybe an icon on top showing the number of people working or maybe an icon if there is 0 people assigned?) It was also difficult to see how much food and water I had - it would have been better to maybe show it the same way as other resources? I also didn't like the fact that I could not destroy buildings or ruins. Finally, I saw that it was possible to build a building even when I didn't have enough resources and my balance would go negative, which I assume is a bug.
It is an interesting strategy and settlement simulator, with a super pleasant art style and music to fit. The gameloop feels fine, but I gfeel UI could be improved::
- Add UI for available food and water. It was counter-intuitive during gameplay disturbed the building and planning flow
- Either UI element or buttons to increase/decrease worker number on hovered building, as it will make it faster and will reduce unnecessary mouse movement.
- Add a small label under each resource indicating the item production rate (12w/min)
- Bonus: show it in red when tide washes away the building.
- Add notches to tide measurer so that it is precisely clear as to when it will emerge (or a timer)
-The tabulation for different building is unnecessary as there are not too many buildings and actually slows down the game
This was a nice designed game. Felt very relaxing lol. My only thing would be a little how to play would be nice to see. Otherwise I really liked the art and music!
I also noticed I was able to go into debt with some resources and was able to go very into the negatives.
sorry, but just one min, I cant join the stream sadly, I live in tunisia and time is I guess not the same, and I also have school tomorrow, but love you and your idea of streaming keep it up, and I guess its ok if my game wont show up
a pretty cool game with a pretty nice design, i had a similar idea for this at the beginning of the jam but decided it would be harder than it seems to implement everything for it in 7 days, so, seeing somebody actually did it and they did a pretty good job on it while keeping the game fresh with different waves of the flooding and with nice graphics and all really warms my heart!
Great job! I really like the idea of the game, but it took a few retries to really figure out how to be productive. Going in the negative for resources is an interesting idea, and there's definitely some cool min-maxing that could go on for this. I think something like a high score system could really benefit the game
Looking forward to seeing more of this game, and when i have some time i plan to come back to this to try and beat it
Very Fun Concept with Great Implementation of mechanics,
Art is colourful and great.
Gameplay is easy to understand.
I would have maybe added so you can repair broken buildings for cheaper than buying new ones or allow you to buy protection (Like flood walls) to protect certain buildings.
Overall Exellent Game!
very good, solid 9 and here`s why:
very good artstyle
functional and responsive buttons and so on
a tile based game, which are my favourite,
it gives the vibe of games like kingdoms and castles and so on
good audio
the idea is nice,
smooth transitions in like, the game itself or the button,
good idea,
one feedback:
flood level 4 is soooo op, I didnt survive it at all, and I like was too dissapointed to like try to recover, (noting that I played it again, in other words, I spent 1 hour literaly playing your game, and am gonna return to it, loved it, and you, have a good day)
Very cool iteration on the idea, the graphics are well done, and I like the music, though the game is not fully my style, I still had some fun with the gameplay loop.
Though I will say sometimes my resources got into the negatives on some runs.
love the presentation, it's a bit of populous mixed with timberborn. I do miss some kind of way of handling floods other than just taking it and some popups to explain certain things would be nice, but it wasn't too hard to figure out.
It does feel a bit weird that you can just go into -100 wood and stone, but otherwise I don't really see how you could recover from a lvl 4 flood.
what are you doing to get into the negatives? I see some people reporting that but haven't reproduced it yet
Level 4 flood is survivable assuming all of your main buildings for food + water production are on level 5 as well as a couple houses. At that point you don't need the resource econ and can just stockpile for the final flood (level 5) which lasts for a bit before the game ends
I just click on a building I wanna build and then put it down, regardless of whether I have the resources for it.
oh huh guess the check for that is broken for some reason
I love the artstyle and the visuals for this game from the little tiles to the UI, resource and space management is a lot of fun too. It does feel terrifying when I pump out water and discover the ruins of my poor wheat fields 💀
A lot of systems do feel like black boxes at first (like food and the flood) but when you get it and have a (somewhat) functioning economy things feel great. Very well made entry!!
this game feels very polished, it was kinda hard at first for me to understand the flow of the game, but when I figured it out it became super fun ,honestly great work!
cool concept and nice art style :) was fun playing.
Really cool ! Nice Survival Builder. It has some Zen vibes to it. Love it!
Everything feels really clean and polished ! The graphics look great, the music has the right mood for this kind of "survive against all odds" type of gameplay but still has a cosy neat sound to it. I just wish i knew how to get rid of those damn ruins to build all over again !
Overall this game is a gem ! Congratulations !
theres no way to get rid of the ruins which makes it so you need to change up your strategy (and not block off all the high ground with things like conduits)
Oh yeah that's what i assumed after a few minutes !
Really nice job!
Really cool concept. Captures very well all the DNA of survival RTS/Builders into a cute and accessible game. Amazing!!
lovely graphics and nice background music. Really like the recourse managment
I survived 12 days on my first run! 🤩I think a problem I ran into was I needed time to learn how everything worked and by the time I figured it out, problems were already arising. 😱 I'd say for a first run, I recovered pretty well and kept it going for a while. I should've prioritized some objects at a higher level in the long run and that screwed me. Keen to dive into my second run! I can see this becoming a fun puzzle to figure out the best "build" for. 📝
edit: i've been sitting here for the last 6 minutes doing other things with the initial screen music still playing and i'm absolutely loving it as bg music 🥰
Pretty fun game, but I noticed that the music cut out after playing for a bit and then it was just complete silence. The graphics are also really pretty to look at!
