The exchange of electromagnetic and thermal energy in collisionless plasmas is an important area of study to understand many space physics processes. The authors use in-situ, high resolution measurements from the MMS mission to examine the spatiotemporal evolution of the electron thermal and electromagnetic energy landscape during an encounter with a magnetic reconnection site in the Earth’s magnetosphere.
