Outreach
Making an Impact in our Community
As part of our commitment for service to the nation and local communities, Lincoln Laboratory’s volunteer-based educational outreach encourages students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We strive to foster interest in STEM and help young people gain confidence to tackle technical challenges.
Adaptive Antennas and Phased Arrays — Online Course
The 16 lectures in this course cover the topics of adaptive antennas and phased arrays. Both theory and experiments are covered in the lectures.
Beaver Works
Project-based learning lets students explore solutions to real-world problems.
Beaver Works Summer Institute
The Beaver Works Summer Institute is a transformational STEM experience, using project-based, workshop-style programs for rising high school seniors. We also work with public schools and teachers conducting STEM courses for their students.
Beaver Works Summer Institute -- Online Courses
The Beaver Works Summer Institute provides a variety of rigorous online courses for high school seniors interested in engineering and programming, or for teachers conducting an afterschool STEM course.
Engineering Workshop
Twice a year, 100 middle school students visit Lincoln Laboratory for the day to explore engineering. They explore the contents of cellphones, cameras, and clocks to learn about the inner workings of various types of electronic devices.
Internships via AFCEA
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) arranges internships for 40 high school seniors interested in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Lincoln Laboratory selects two students to do hands-on, project-related work with a mentor.
Lincoln Coders
Students learn how to build their own chatbots, games, and animations using their choice of Scratch, JavaScript, or Python. Lectures include topics related to coding, programming, and artificial intelligence.
LL EduCATE
LL EduCATE (Lincoln Laboratory Courses for Accessible, Technical Education) visits schools to introduce students to core engineering skills to see how STEM topics can apply to their own lives. Each course practices a hands-on engineering application.
LLCipher
LLCipher workshop is a one-week program that introduces high school students to cryptography, an approach to securing data.
LLRISE
Lincoln Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE) is a two-week radar workshop for rising high school seniors.
