From 48 Hills: Moe’z, a Simpsons-themed pop-up bar, has opened on Sutter Street in San Francisco, bringing Moe's Tavern to life with details like Bart's chalkboard punishment and a wall mimicking the bushes Homer disappears into. The bar serves creative cocktails such as the "Mr. Sparkle" Toki Highball and the "Flaming Moe," made with mysterious "Booze, Purple, and Flames." Co-owned by Brett Frost, Dan Hayes, and Leo Kaplan—who also run The Summer Place and Wizards & Wands—the bar is part of their plan to turn the space into a downtown destination for themed pop-ups. https://lnkd.in/gcknSs8B

From NBC Bay Area: Amid Union Square’s retail resurgence, Taylor Jay's new women’s clothing store, Taylor Jay Collection, brings fresh optimism. Known for her "elegant comfort" designs, Jay’s inclusive brand focuses on soft, versatile pieces for everybody. Overcoming personal and business hurdles, including the pandemic and a closed Oakland store, she embraced San Francisco’s Vacant to Vibrant program to open her shop just before the holidays. With resilience, creativity, and a commitment to empowering women, Jay’s store offers a hopeful spark for the revival of Union Square’s retail scene. https://lnkd.in/gCycqvKF

A huge congratulations to our own Marisa Rodriguez, who was recognized by State Senator Scott Wiener as California District 11 Woman of the Year! This recognition was in recognition of Marisa's incredible leadership and stewardship of the Union Square area. We couldn't be prouder, or more grateful for this recognition! "I’m deeply honored to receive this award from our State Senator Wiener, who has been a champion of the downtown recovery and an incredible partner to Union Square," said Rodriguez. "This award is, more than anything, recognition of the incredible members, businesses, and entrepreneurs in Union Square - and an affirmation of the incredible momentum in downtown San Francisco. Thank you Senator from the bottom of my heart." Congratulations, Marisa!

From SFGate: B. Patisserie, the popular San Francisco bakery known for its award-winning kouign-amann, is set to open a kiosk in Union Square by mid-March. Co-owned by James Beard award-winning pastry chef Belinda Leong, the kiosk will offer a selection of her signature pastries like croissants, cookies, and panini. Leong, who wasn’t originally looking to expand, embraced the opportunity through San Francisco’s Vacant to Vibrant program. She’s optimistic about the revitalization of Union Square and believes the success of the area depends on the support of both locals and tourists. https://lnkd.in/gcbWHadS

The key to a robust downtown economy is investing in the small businesses and entrepreneurs that will build our downtown’s next chapter. We are thrilled about this legislation to invest in hospitality and nightlife in Union Square and Yerba Buena - and look forward to welcoming and supporting new businesses in our iconic district. https://lnkd.in/gpHGZZVD
