From SFist: Shoe Palace is set to open a new 16,000 square-foot location at 301 Geary Street, the former site of the Express store, just in time for the NBA All-Star Game festivities in February 2025. The store will offer sneakers, athletic shoes, and apparel, perfectly timed for the influx of tourists visiting Union Square for the event. Shoe Palace, which already has a location at Emporium Centre SF, will be across from the upcoming Union Square Nintendo store. The space has sat vacant since the Express store closed in October 2023, but it will soon become a hotspot for sneaker-heads and shoppers alike. https://lnkd.in/guGaJm74

From CBS News: The Macy's flagship store in Union Square, San Francisco, was notably excluded from the 2025 closure list, much to the relief of local residents and city officials. Despite earlier reports suggesting the location could close by 2027, the historic store will remain open as Macy's seeks a buyer for the prime real estate. Anchoring the shopping district since 1929, the store is a key part of Union Square's identity and contributes to its vibrant atmosphere. This decision is a win for the neighborhood, as Macy's continues to play a vital role in the area’s commercial and cultural significance. https://cbsn.ws/4gekKOP
