  • Smart pricing drives growth, but tactics like fake discounts or tricky billing terms can break trust fast. Are you guiding or pressuring customers? Psychology plays a huge role in how people perceive pricing. When used well, it helps customers make informed decisions and feel good about subscribing. But when pricing feels manipulative, it can drive them away - possibly for good. So how do you strike the right balance? ✅ Frame pricing clearly: Don’t rely on fake discounts or misleading comparisons ✅ Use urgency responsibly: Scarcity can drive action, but it shouldn’t create anxiety ✅ Showcase value: Make it clear why your subscription is worth it, no tricks needed In our latest blog, Daphne Tideman breaks down five key pricing psychology principles - anchoring, price framing, scarcity, the endowment effect, and loss aversion - and how to use them ethically. Understanding these principles helps you optimize pricing in a way that boosts conversions and builds long-term customer trust. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eTW9XFAq #SubscriptionApps #PricingPsychology #AppGrowth

  • Pricing can be one of the biggest growth levers for subscription apps, but how do you know if you’ve got it right? A/B testing has limits, and competitor research only tells part of the story. To really understand what your customers value (and what they’ll pay for), you need to talk to them. But be careful - people often say one thing and do another when it comes to price. Here are key takeaways from Daphne Tideman’s guide to pricing interviews: ➡️ 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Customers want to be helpful, which can skew your results if you're not careful. ➡️ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿. Asking about future behavior? Expect over-optimistic answers. ➡️ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. Price complaints don’t always mean your app costs too much - sometimes, it’s a value mismatch. App Marketer of the Year | Growth Consultant | Founder & CEO @ Perceptycs

From 0 to $4.5M ARR in just 14 months. 👇 Our client Zumba has one of the fastest growing subscription apps in the fitness space, stacking up >30,000 active subscribers and winning RevenueCat’s Anchor’s Away award. But scaling a fitness app these days is no joke. Last year, the team and I at Perceptycs kicked off our partnership with Zumba to diagnose growth bottlenecks and help plot a path forward. The game plan? ✅ Cutting noise: scaling back Google, killing TikTok, & doubling down on Meta ✅ 10x’ing creative testing to find messaging that converts ✅ Overhauling the early user experience to drive more trials ✅ Running high velocity paywall and pricing tests to boost annual subs ✅ Shifting focus to Web2App to scale faster The result? A 52% drop in CPA in 3 weeks, $4.5M ARR in 14 months and a sustainable growth engine that’s still scaling today. I break it all down in my latest article published by RevenueCat, including: 📌 The what and why behind some of the experiments we ran 📌 What worked (and what didn’t) 📌 Key lessons for scaling subscription apps Check it out in the link below. Must say, I do love doing great work with great people!

  • Zumba had the brand. They had the content. But a few months after launch, CPAs were climbing, and conversion rates weren’t where they needed to be. By focusing ad spend on Meta, testing creative at scale, and rethinking the paywall timing and placement, they turned things around - hitting their CPA targets and scaling to $4.5M ARR in just 14 months. In our latest case study, Nathan Hudson (Founder of Perceptycs) breaks down the key growth experiments that made it happen - from ad strategy to onboarding tweaks to pricing tests. • Apple’s new Advanced Commerce API introduces features that make managing large catalogs and bundled subscriptions easier for certain apps. ✅ Apps with large in-app purchase catalogs - like platforms offering thousands of creator subscriptions or courses - can now manage SKUs dynamically. ✅ Apps offering bundled subscriptions - such as a base subscription with optional add-ons - can now combine them into a single purchase. ✅ Developers can still take advantage of the App Store’s payment processing, tax handling, and customer support. However, there are important limitations: ❌ Purchases can’t be promoted on the App Store. ❌ No support for subscription offers or Family Sharing. ❌ No compatibility with StoreKit Testing in Xcode. While the API serves a narrow use case, it signals Apple’s ongoing effort to support more complex business models on the App Store - making things possible that were previously difficult or even impossible to implement. • How Genius Scan grew from a dorm room project to a 5M MAU scanning app Bruno V., co-founder of The Grizzly Labs, creator of Genius Scan, joins the podcast to share how he and his co-founder turned a side project into one of the most popular document scanning apps - all without external funding. In this conversation featuring David Barnard & Jacob Eiting, you'll learn: 🔸 Why prioritizing customer experience over short-term metrics drives sustainable growth 🔸 How an accidental A/B test revealed a better-performing paywall 🔸 The power of simplifying pricing to increase revenue without hurting adoption Listen now 👇 • Spotify/Apple: https://lnkd.in/ejGdB482 • YouTube: https://lnkd.in/e3xVNfQU Some key takeaways: 1️⃣ Focusing on customers over metrics pays off. Genius Scan built long-term trust by avoiding aggressive monetization and prioritizing user needs. This approach led to strong organic growth and loyal users. 2️⃣ Simpler pricing can increase revenue. Removing lower-tier subscription options didn’t hurt conversions - users naturally gravitated to the higher-value plan, tripling revenue. 3️⃣ Small changes can have a big impact. A server crash accidentally revealed that a simpler banner message doubled conversions, proving that minor tweaks can unlock major growth opportunities. 4️⃣ Bootstrapped success is still possible. With a clear focus on delivering real value, indie apps can compete with tech giants - no funding required. Check out the full episode to hear Bruno's insights on growth, monetization, and lessons from 15 years of building Genius Scan. #appgrowth #subscriptionapps
