It was a great two days of discussions about #Autonomy in #Aviation at the ASTM International Aviation Autonomy Symposium this week. Some of our key takeaways include: - The strong community of experts are collaborating to safely bring automation and autonomy into aviation via standards bodies and special committees - Designers of aircraft with high levels of automation will have to fully understand and describe the operational environments they will encounter, then decompose all of the intended functions, including those derived from pilot tasks that are performed by systems  - There is no substitute for real world testing #Automation #AviationSafety

Reliable is honored to be working with Lirio Liu, former Executive Director of the FAA Aircraft Certification Service, to develop policy and means of compliance that will enable the near-term aviation safety benefits of our autonomous aircraft system. Lirio is recognized throughout the international aviation community for her commitment to developing a policy framework that embraces safety technologies and expands United States leadership in aviation. In this blog post, Lirio discusses the importance of taking near-term action to establish a repeatable and consistent process for the approval and continued airworthiness of control stations (CS). The CS enables a remote pilot to securely communicate with air traffic control in real-time, manage the flight plan and any required reroutes, and monitor nearby air traffic. Reliable Robotics and Reliable Airlines represented at the annual conference this week.
