The Naval Sea Systems Command is comprised of command staff, headquarters directorates, affiliated Program Executive Offices (PEOs) and numerous field activities. Together, we engineer, build, buy and maintain ships, submarines and combat systems that meet the Fleet's current and future operational requirements.   • A call to action - the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program is Forging the Future! The U.S. Navy strengthened its efforts to revitalize the nation's shipbuilding capability with the opening of a new training center in Danville, Virginia, creating a pipeline of skilled workers critical for building and maintaining the nation's submarines and warships. "This facility helps address our immediate workforce needs. It advances our efforts to restore our industrial base and ensure our industry partners have the skilled workforce they need to build and maintain the Navy's fleet." said Frederick "Jay" Stefany, the Direct Reporting Program Manager for the Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Program.   • Yesterday, we wrapped up the final day of the 2025 Surface Navy Association’s annual symposium. We heard from Capt. Sarah Rice (pic 1), from the Terminal Defense Systems program office, who briefed on Afloat, Kinetic Unmanned Aerial Systems; Capt. JJ Murawski (pic 2), from the Small Combatant and Expeditionary Modernization and Sustainment program office, PEO Ships, who briefed on Surface Ship Modernization; Capt. Matt Tardy (pic 3) from Amphibious Warfare program office, PEO Ships who provided an Amphibious Warfare Program Update; and Mr. Matt Evans (pic 4) from the Maritime Industrial Base program who briefed on Maritime Industrial Base initiatives.   • Welcome to day three, the final day of NAVSEA at the 2025 Surface Navy Association’s annual symposium. Today, NAVSEA Commander, Vice Adm. Jim Downey will lead discussions on the Accelerating Force Generation Panel at 10:30 am and the Readiness Generation Panel at 2:00 pm with other Navy leaders and industry partners. The NAVSEA booth will feature four officials speaking on a variety of programs. Representatives from the Maritime Industrial Base Program Office will also be around in the morning and late afternoon to speak to potential industry partners regarding opportunities to work with the #ForceBehindTheFleet.   • New NAVSEA team player loading! This month, Liz Nashold joined the #ForceBehindTheFleet as the new Executive Director for the NAVSEA Industrial Operations Directorate. With direct oversight of the Nation’s four naval shipyards, Ms. Nashold will lead more than 37,000 personnel executing the critical depot-level repair, maintenance and modernization efforts of the Navy’s submarines, aircraft carriers, and supporting surface ships. “We are excited to welcome Ms. Nashold to our team of force generators,” said Rear Adm. Scott Brown, Deputy Commander, Industrial Operations. “Her prior experience will be critical as we charge forward to improve fleet readiness in support of our U.S. Navy’s maritime superiority.” Join us below in the comments as we welcome Ms. Nashold to NAVSEA!
