2/4 NEWS UPDATE: Additional Tariffs Imposed on Imports from China, Canada, and Mexico Canada and Mexico Tariffs of 25%**The implementation of tariffs in Canada and Mexico has been paused for thirty days. However, the language in these tariffs indicates that the exemptions for information material will also be in place for Canada and Mexico. Please see the corresponding draft publication from the Federal Register below for Canada. https://lnkd.in/eZZ_epQz China Tariffs Guidance around the additional 10% China tariff set to be published in the Federal Register on February 5th notes that products of China that are encompassed by Presidential Authority 50U.S.C. 1702(b) will not be subject to the additional advalorem duty PA 50 U.S.C. 1702 (b)(3) provides an exemption for informational material, including but not limited to, publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilms, microfiche, tapes, compact disks, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wire feeds . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Note: Antiques, Furniture and Books amongst other non-artwork items are not included in these exemptions and therefore should be considered dutiable upon import into the US. This means that at this time we believe many artworks will not be subjected to the additional 10%. However, we do believe that the existing 7.5% will continue to apply as it has previously. Please note that when considering products of Chinese origin, these now include products of Hong Kong. RE: Drawbacks on China Tariffs We will follow up with additional guidance on drawback eligibility, and on whether goods of Hong Kong origin will have additional Duties imposed. If items are already in transit, this will likely not apply, for anything pending you should reach out to a Dietl representative for further guidance. Below is the corresponding draft publication from the Federal Register. https://lnkd.in/eQGvUn7Y As this news develops we suggest you reach out directly to your Dietl representative for additional information.

The art world is no longer just about the masterpieces we cherish; it’s about how we transport and preserve them sustainably. Enter the ROKBOX Loop—your eco-friendly ally in art shipping! ♻️ With its preconstructed crates designed for ease of use, auction houses, museums, galleries and artists can ship their prized collections without compromising on sustainability. Imagine effortlessly packing your art in New York, knowing that those crates are built to reduce waste and optimize the shipping process. And once your artwork reaches its destination, it doesn’t just stop there! As you pass your crate to the iconic streets of London for its next encore performance, you’re not just shipping; you're participating in a circular economy that prioritizes accessibility and environmental responsibility. 🌱💚 #RokboxLoop #ArtShipping #Sustainability
It’s one thing saying sustainability matters. It’s an entirely different thing to put it into practice. And so it is with great pleasure that I share this Christie’s & ROKBOX case study, Collaborating to Protect the Big Pictures. It illustrates how Christie's used ROKBOX LOOP in 2024 to cut carbon packaging waste and emissions, and promote a new era of fine art shipping that values collaboration over competition. As this case study shows, ROKBOX LOOP is not just a solid concept, it is tried and tested, and out there solving real world problems. Thank you to the Christie’s team including David Findlay, Emma Cunningham, Julien Pradels, Emily Klug, Christopher O'Neil-Dunne, Michalis Livesey, Antonio Quizhpilema. Thanks also to ROKBOX LOOP partners: Gander & White Shipping, Haas & Company AG , Harsch, The Art of Moving Forward , Dietl International Services , Regency Shipping Limited , Helu-Trans (S) Pte Ltd Helu-Trans (HK) Pte Limited For a PDF of the case study, please email info@rok-box.com

Today we reflect on the profound impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We remember not only his words but also the powerful legacy he left behind. His journey in the fight for justice, equality, and peace continues to inspire generations. If you haven’t visited the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta, now's the time (although maybe wait a few days until the temperature warms up)! Take a trip to witness the beautiful memorial dedicated to his relentless spirit in the heart of the city he called home. Walk through the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he preached, or stand in front of his childhood home for a profound connection to his life and work. Every corner of this park tells a story—stories of courage, resilience, and hope. Let’s continue to honor his legacy by advocating for the values he stood for. A better world is within our reach, and we each play a part. #MLK #Equality

With the clock ticking down to the end of the current ILA/USMX contract at many US ports on January 15, waves of uncertainty may be rippling through your art shipping schedules. Here are a few thoughts on how to navigate the potential storm: 1. Stay Informed: Keep your ear to the ground! Updates on negotiations can greatly influence capacity and costs. Capacity may also be limited by possible new tariffs next year and the rush to get cargo shipped before they are in effect. 2. Plan Ahead: As you know, shipping timelines can be as unpredictable as a Jackson Pollock painting. Having alternative routes or carriers in mind can save you from last-minute chaos. 3. Communication is Key: Keeping an open dialogue with your Dietl International Services team member can lead to better forecasting. Let’s all avoid those 'UGH' moments! Stay prepared. #theDIETLdifference #OceanFreight #Logistics #ArtShipping
