📖 We've refined our Accelerator playbook over the last three years. One of the major lessons from the 3 cohorts we've supported so far: 🔖 Product Market Fit isn't the same as vanity metrics and positive sentiments from climate conferences. What do we mean? The metrics that matter most for a startup are: ARR retention customer satisfaction usage. Those KPIs are all lagging - that is they take time to understand. Some up to 12 months. Startups often don’t have that kind of time.  The curve ball here is that more instant and 'loud' metrics are unhelpful vanity metrics - social likes, email opens, praise from industry, etc. There’s low correlation of those and the above. Often times they are misleading. 💫 This and a whole lot more we have unpacked with PMF-guru Peter Nocchiero of Alternate Future who is coming in to run part of our AI x Climate Accelerator. Across #Davos events this week Salesforce kept saying we're in the 'Agentic era' of AI development. We couldn't agree more. AI is bridging the gap between knowing what needs to be done and actually doing it! Here are a number of interesting applications - links below: 🔢 Analyzing vast datasets: AI algorithms can analyze huge amounts of climate data from various sources like satellites, weather stations, and ocean buoys. This helps in identifying patterns and trends that might be missed by traditional methods. 🚜 Optimizing agricultural practices: AI can analyze data on weather, soil, and crops to optimize irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.This helps in increasing crop yields and reducing the environmental impact of agriculture. 🏭 Tracking GHG emissions: AI can be used to track emissions from various sources, such as power plants and factories. This helps in monitoring progress towards emissions reduction targets and identifying areas where more action is needed. 🔥 Assessing disaster damage: AI can analyze satellite images and other data to assess the damage caused by natural disasters.This helps in coordinating relief efforts and allocating resources effectively. 🌲 Deforestation and land use change detection: AI can analyze satellite images to detect deforestation, changes in land use, and other environmental changes. Achieving net zero will require removing up to 10 gigatons of CO2e annually –about 20% of global emissions today.  As 2025 approaches, here's an exciting update to help drive progress: Building the needed emissions removal capacity is a monumental task, requiring investments in carbon removal technologies to scale from $5–13B annually to an estimated $2 trillion (!) by 2050.
