Hello everyone!
I’ve been out of touch for a while, and a lot has changed in my life. In October 2024, I left Russia and sought asylum in Spain.
This decision had been planned for a long time, as living in Russia was no longer an option for me. Things became especially dangerous after I was threatened by the police for being a queer, non-binary person who loves women and wanted the freedom to openly express my feelings for my girlfriend.
Staying in Russia felt like a death sentence. I could have faced heavy fines for “LGBT propaganda” (in early 2024, Russia passed a law banning any LGBT representation and even classified LGBT individuals as extremists and terrorists), or worse, I could have been imprisoned simply for being who I am.
Now, I’ve been in Spain for three months. I’ve started adapting to my new life here and have begun learning Spanish.
