In the context of the fight against impunity, the European Parliament has always been a strong supporter of the ICC as an impartial and independent multilateral institution mandated to deliver justice to the victims of international crimes (crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide). The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss latest developments of the international criminal justice architecture in a changing geopolitical landscape.

On 19 March the Subcommittee on Human Rights, in collaboration with the Legislative Dialogue Unit of the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments, will hold an interparliamentary committee meeting with national parliaments on the topic: "Coordination between the EU and its Member States in Strengthening the EU’s Role at the UN and Exchanging Best Practices in the Human Rights Field."

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Michael O'Flaherty held his first debate with DROI Members on 18 February. This exchange is part of DROI's round of initial contacts with its main institutional counterparts on the human rights' international stage. Topics such as the war in Ukraine and the fight against impunity, respect for human rights in the context of asylum and migration and attacks to the Rule of Law in Europe were discussed.
