Sobre el proyecto

Este prototipo fue desarrollado como parte de un proyecto académico para la asignatura Diseño de Videojuegos I, correspondiente al segundo curso del grado en Diseño y Desarrollo de Videojuegos en el CITM (Centro de la Imagen y la Tecnología Multimedia) de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

El trabajo fue realizado en equipo, y mi contribución principal fue:

• La creación de las reglas y mecánicas principales del juego.
• El diseño de los tipos de cartas.
• El balanceo de las cartas.

¿Qué es Sé tu propio jefe?

Sé tu propio jefe es un juego de mesa donde los jugadores compiten para convertirse en el empresario más exitoso. A lo largo de la partida, deberán tomar decisiones estratégicas que influirán en el crecimiento de sus empresas, mientras se enfrentan a eventos inesperados que afectarán su progreso. El objetivo es gestionar eficazmente los recursos, tomar decisiones clave en el momento adecuado y superar los obstáculos para ganar.

¿Cómo se juega?

En cada partida, los jugadores tendrán la oportunidad de invertir en diferentes negocios y gestionar sus recursos. A medida que avancen en el juego, recibirán eventos que pueden ser positivos o negativos, lo que los obligará a adaptarse y tomar decisiones rápidas para mejorar su posición en el juego.

Los jugadores también deben negociar, realizar intercambios y hacer alianzas para superar los desafíos, pero al final, sólo uno podrá ser el empresario más exitoso. Los jugadores deben equilibrar su toma de decisiones, su capacidad de gestión y su habilidad para reaccionar a los eventos que surgen a lo largo de la partida.

About the project

This prototype was developed as part of an academic project for the course VIDEO GAME DESIGN I, part of the second year of the Video Game Design and Development degree at CITM (Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

The work was done as a team, and my main contributions were:

What is Be Your Own Boss?

Be Your Own Boss is a board game where players compete to become the most successful entrepreneur. Throughout the game, they must make strategic decisions that influence the growth of their businesses while facing unexpected events that affect their progress. The goal is to manage resources effectively, make key decisions at the right time, and overcome obstacles to win.

How do you play?

In each game, players will have the opportunity to invest in different businesses and manage their resources. As they advance in the game, they will encounter events that can be either positive or negative, forcing them to adapt and make quick decisions to improve their position.

Players must also negotiate, trade, and form alliances to overcome challenges, but in the end, only one will be the most successful entrepreneur. Players must balance their decision-making, management skills, and ability to react to events that arise during the game.
