Coldwater Chronicle

Coldwater Chronicle is a mini fishing adventure game. Play as a member of a research team on the distant icy planet of Rimefrost, and collect living specimens of strange fish species. Find and purchase items to discover anything living beneath the ice and try to pick away at the planet's mysteries.

This game contains:

• 9 unique kinds of fish to discover.
• 2D side-scrolling fishing action.
• An array of upgrades to aide you in exploring the overworld and diving deeper into fishing holes.
• Friendly faces all around town.
• Artificial bananas made by a machine.

The controls are:

• Z - Interact with objects in the environment or use whatever item you have equipped to 'A'.
• X - Use whatever item you have equipped to 'B'.
• C - Reel in your line or hold it while pressing another button to swap equipped items.

This game was originally being developed for the DevZone Secret Santa 2024 Jam, but I blew way past my time, and ended up taking my own pace fixing bugs and polishing things up. This game was made for Oroshibu, who wished for:

• Icecubes
• Banana
• Side-scrolling real-time gameplay/combat locked to a grid
• The quintessentially abstract, metaphysically idealized, and archetypally transcendent conceptualization of what might, in its purest and most unadulterated essence, constitute the ontological framework of a fish embodied by its platonic idea
• Hourglass

This game uses SFX from Yal's Sound Effect Pack, Music from 8-Bit Action Music Booster Pack by Bit by Bit Sound, and the Eulbink palette by Inkpendude.

I got way too over-ambitious with this idea, but I had a lot of fun with it and am proud of what I did get finished even if it's a bit cut down from all I wanted to do with it. Maybe we'll see planet Rimefrost and it's explorers sometime down the line.
