The Fall of Acilain: A Tale of Betrayal and Doom

Once a land of peace and prosperity, the great kingdom of Acilain fell to ruin under the weight of betrayal. King Etso ruled justly, beloved by his people—until his brother, Stephan, hatched a dark conspiracy to seize the throne and its wealth.

Over three years, Stephan sowed division, tempting followers with promises of fortune and power. The kingdom split in two, and tension brewed like a storm until one fateful day, chaos erupted. A riot in the town square became Stephan’s opportunity. With his loyal forces, he stormed the castle, slaughtering all who stood in his way.

King Etso and his four valiant generals fought bravely, but they were outnumbered. One by one, the generals fell, leaving the king alone to protect his most treasured possessions—his wife and two young sons. Behind the doors of the royal chambers, Etso fought ferociously, but even his strength wasn’t enough. Pierced by four arrows, he fell, helplessly watching his family perish before him. With his dying breath, he cursed Stephan and his followers, vowing they would pay for their treachery.

Stephan claimed the throne, but his victory was hollow. That very night, a shadowy demon emerged, born from the evil of his betrayal. Every year on the anniversary of Etso’s fall, the demon returned, stealing villagers in the dead of night. For a hundred years, the kingdom withered under the curse, leaving only those untouched by Stephan’s corruption. The survivors fled to build a new stronghold, but the demon’s bloodlust was unrelenting.
