The levelling and ship unlocks are all running on WhalePass. Hyplay is used for authentication, WhalePass runs all levelling and unlocks.
I assure you, there are hundreds of WhalePass Tokens and Challenges that went into this game...
Thanks for the feedback, I did plan on making the game easier to start, but once you get a few upgrades, it gets much easier.
Thank you very much! The rebuild is on its way. Currently building out the multiplay-relay lobbying system. Then will get into rebuilding the core mechanics.
The goal is for a multiplayer version where theres always a few games running, new players drop in and start accumulating "Vibes" for any rounds they win. The AI voting will become smarter, already working on a "smart" scoring system for each card so that the AI will pick/judge object cards based on actually fitting a subject cards context.
There are a lot of bugs in the demo, I'm just glad I got it uploaded in time. Thanks for playing!
Thank you very much! The rebuild is on its way. Currently building out the lobbying system. I am determined to build out a DGS solution that works in WebGL without needing a reverse proxy, and I'm nearly there. Just need time. Then I can move the state machine and dealing logic into the server component. Get it so that theres always a couple of games running with AI, and players joining backfill the AI positions and get into the action.
I'll then fix the bugs for the demo and it'll act as a sort of "intro" into the game for a couple of rounds, before dropping you into the online multiverse of madness.... (big dreamz)
I think theres a glitch where the invincible enemy spawns before it should, but I was able to avoid this happening by staying away from directly south of spawn point.
I thought the dude with things spinning was invincible at first but you've just gotta get him stuck behind a tree and its smooth sailing :)
I came third, good enough!
Great submission for 2 weeks, would love to see what you coulda done in a month with it.
I couldnt play it more than a moment because my laptop sucks and I dont have a gun or even a mouse, trackpad made this hard, but I saw the playthrough so I rated higher anyways. I just dont see how One Shot came into it, but other than that, great little especially for a short jam! Could see playing this on the Nintendo Wii
I had a blast playing this. Great use of the metroidvania controller. I loved having to chase down the ball after each shot, and creating little combos bouncing off a few enemies at a time. I feel like there should be a lot more enemies in the map, or a smaller map.
I look forward to multuplayer and it would be cool if you could teleport the ball between each other, or it brings two balls into the game.
Thanks, I'm glad the lyrics got some laughs :) Suno is sooo good sometimes, you just gotta use a lot of credits to get to the good stuff
I kicked off a Unity Web Services project last night and going to rebuild the game from scratch, cleanly and not with the jumbled mess of spaghetti code I threw together just to get stuff "working" last minute lol
100%... Yeah, I spent too long messing around with Hyplay stuff and really rushed the game the last few days. The lyrics to the songs were mine lol, and I meant them lol. I started rebuilding the game from scratch last night, building it multiplayer from the ground up and the AI will just be additional players in that system, rather than the hobbled together mess that this game ended up. I appreciate your time playing, and the honest feedback. Version2 will not be an AI fever dream :)
I used Suno.com for the music generation. There are like 15 versions of both the lobby song and the card game song I had generated. I thought about having it just play them all back to back, considered having a button for each genre you can pick your "vibe" but I really wasnt liking a lot of them last minute, so I chose to extend the card game song a few minutes instead. Didnt think anyone would stick around that long TBH, takes like 12 minute or so to make it through the loop lol.
I will add more music to future versions.
I might start pulling in others to help make it a more robust game, if so I'll get a real sound guy, I just wanted to work solo for the Jam and see what I could achieve.
You're absolutely correct, I didnt have time to finish the full game which is multiplayer and involves much smarter AI players. Theres a lot more card data under the hood to be added to make the AI choices seem smart.
Also, I really made this to be a multiplayer game but wanted a single player version for the Jam.
My final game should be much better. 2 weeks was a short turn around... Thanks for the kind words!!!
