There is now a Discord! :) https://itch.io/jam/manas-2d-horror-game-jam-1/topic/4563832/discord-available-l...
Hello hello! Per others suggestions(thank you) and because I'm looking at this Game Jam as a long term project, I have created a new Discord server separate from the one tied to my YouTube channel.
As of now there's only a few sections so I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone here has. I have never been in a Discord dedicated to a Game Jam so I feel that many of you may know better than me. I will fill out the Community category with some general stuff soon but for the main Game Jam category, please let me know what you would be good.
Please also let me know if anyone has suggestions for roles, as of now it's just Admin and Members, very basic, but like with the jam itself I want to learn and improve over time so we'll get there! :)

This is also a tough one, on one hand if there's 3D models, that leans away from 2D, but what you describe does lean towards the spirit of a 2D game as I put it. Honestly I think it's best to be less strict for this first game jam and to let it be a learning experience. If you think it should be okay, go for it! 馃憤
I will use this first jam to learn and see how others feel and perhaps even one of the rating categories in the future can be "2D Game" or something so that can become part of the ratings for others to be making the final judgement.
To anyone reading, feedback, thoughts, suggestions are all very welcome. Happy to hear others input on this so that future jams can continue to improve. 馃憤
Hmm this is a tough one, I think it's fine for the definition of 2D to be stretched a lot, but it is still a 2D game jam. I think 2.5D is okay and anything that's still in the spirit of a 2D game, but I think the Mr Hopps example is ultimately a full 3D game so it would lean outside of that. With the Mr Hopps example, maybe if that was a point and click game it would be a bit more on the line(Although even then it's a bit murky), but if you are walking around a 3D environment, it would be hard to call it 2D.
Hopefully your idea can work within that in some way, I appreciate your participation!
Thank you for your questions!
1) There is not but I could see the benefit of that. I run a Discord server for my channel so I could have a category for this but maybe it should be a new server just for this. Either way, that's a good idea.
2) I set the hashtag #2DHorrorGameJam but I'm wondering if I should change it. It started as #Manas2DHorrorGameJam but the "Manas" bothered me since it can be read weird without the apostrophe in there. 馃槄
Checking now, I'm not seeing any results for #2DHorrorGameJam so maybe we are good to go ahead with that. Open to suggestions!
Hello hello! Since this is the first time for me hosting a Game Jam I wanted to make this thread to welcome any and all suggestions, feedback, thoughts, etc. I want to learn and improve for the future so I appreciate anything anyone wants to say, I will take it all in with care and consideration.
Thank you!
Hello hello! I realised after making this jam that I should have allowed more time before submissions open so I'm getting ahead with #2. It's currently active with submissions open from March 1-31 and voting through to April 14. I will see how this goes and if it works out, I will follow the same for future jams with submissions open for the full month and voting continuing for 2 weeks into the next month.
Thank you all. Feedback and suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

I'm not 100% on what happened or how to pronounce the name but I do know I enjoyed playing. 馃槃 Edit: Some areas inside were probably a bit too dark. I'm not sure if that was intended but for some monitors it's at a level where you can't see properly in some spots. Great stuff otherwise and it wasn't a big deal or anything, just worth noting. 馃憤
Really liked this one, feels like there's a lot of effort put into it - All of the custom artwork really goes a long way. Only thing I wanted to note is that i think the diary needs to be slowed down - Reading aloud probably doesn't help but it still seemed to go by really fast and I found myself just trying to quickly get it read so much that I didn't focus properly on what what it actually said - Second part there is probably more a me issue but yeah just wanted to note that, everything else was great, really looking forward to seeing more. 馃憤
I had some issues with the sprint and I think it'd be great if progressed saved after finding keys(I found myself going up and down the elevator to save) but other than that I really liked the concept and thought the first person view with the camera worked really well. I could definitely see this as an interesting anthology series. 馃憤
