Hi @Bushido1111,

Did you press Ctrl + C while running the game, or do you have any external process that might be terminating it? The error suggests that something interrupted the game while it was waiting to start.

Maybe try restarting the game, and if the issue persists, try cleaning your running processes by signing out and signing back in or restarting your PC. That might help!

Let me know how it goes.

Hi @Bushido1111,

Yes, this game is offline by default, it only uses your browser to render and process your gameplay operations.

If you’d like to play with friends, please refer to the “Multiplayer Setup” section in this guide: https://itch.io/t/3763917/how-to-play-this-game.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi @makstfate,

The damage phase occurs before the retaliate phase.

The villain advances when his HP reaches 0, which happens during the damage phase.

After revealing “21112”, he gains “21118” (which provides +1 retaliate) still within the damage phase.

So when the retaliate phase begins, he already has the retaliate and will therefore deal retaliate damage.

Hi willowBySword,

Thank you for your report. Please see our responses below for each issue:

  1. For the first issue, we will address it in the next version.

  2. Regarding issue 2, the card with ID “35009” is intended to be classified as an attack. There is a FAQ that address to a similar situation:

Q: I have a question about the Dance of Death card for Black Widow, since it lacks the (attack) label. Is this card considered a regular “attack” for retaliate purposes, or is it a non-attack ability?

A: The card has the Attack trait and the ability says “Make the following 3 attacks in order” so it is clearly an attack.

  3. For the third issue, we were unable to reproduce the problem. In our case, “35009” can target the same enemy twice when there is only one target available. Could you please provide more detailed steps or additional context so we can investigate further?

Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate your help in improving our game!

Hi @WillowBySword,

Thank you for your bug report. This issue appears to be a duplicate of the one discussed here: https://itch.io/t/4492798/adam-warlock-alter-ego-ability-is-not-available-and-ghost-spider-after-you-use-basic-power

We have already fixed it in our development version.

If you have any further issues or feedback, please feel free to let us know!

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for sharing this FAQ with me. We also found the information from that link. We will update this scenario to ensure that the player’s side schemes do not apply the “Red Skull” effect.

I appreciate your help in improving the game!

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for reporting the issue regarding the “Red Skull” scenarios.

In the Red Skull rule book, it states:

When a side scheme is defeated or otherwise discarded, place it in the side scheme discard pile.

It does not specify whether the side scheme comes from the player’s deck or the encounter deck.

However, we are uncertain if this process is correct. If you come across any FAQs or additional resources that address this, please let me know.

Thank you again for your help!

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for your response and for reaching out to FFG regarding the bug report. It seems this issue is related to the v16 rule update, which specifies that the card must be placed on the table before its effect is resolved. We will update the engine accordingly to ensure compliance with this rule.

I appreciate your help in improving the game! For future reference, it would be great if you could paste the text directly instead of using an image, as it makes it easier for us to copy and search through the information.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for reporting the issues regarding the “40006” and “40031” cards. We have reproduced the problems and we will address these bugs in the next version. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and it helps us improve the game!

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for reporting the bugs in the “Red Skull” and “Escape the Museum” scenarios. We have reproduced these issues and will address them in the next version. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for sharing your crash file. The bug is caused by card “32049.”

In the current version (v0.5.8.147), this card can incorrectly activate using itself as a target. We will address this issue in the next version.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi @willowBySword,

Thank you for your report regarding the “Four Horsemen” scenario. I appreciate the details you’ve provided.

In the current version, if your hero is attacked by Pestilence “45083a”, the text box of your hero will be treated as blank until the next villain phase begins.

To better understand the issue, could you please clarify what your expected results are versus what you are currently experiencing? Specifically, how do you expect the text to behave when transitioning between villain phases?

Your insights will help us address the bug more effectively.

Hi @Adrian79Ko,

Thank you for sharing the crash file. The issue is caused by card “27070,” and I’m pleased to inform you that we have fixed it in our development version.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Hi @willowBySword,

Thank you for sharing your save file. We have reviewed it and found that this bug is caused by card “18008,” as mentioned in itch.io/post/11908358.

In the current version, please avoid putting this card into play. If you already have this card in play, please refrain from flipping your hero to Alter-Ego form.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your request regarding the hero Domino “40037a.” We have implemented her in our development version, and we appreciate your patience as we prepare for the next release. If you have any additional ideas or requests, please feel free to share!

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash file.

We have reviewed it and identified a crash occurring at step 39. This crash happens when you attempt to play card “09015” in response to a non-basic defense event broadcast by playing card “03033.”

To avoid this crash, please follow these steps:

  1. Declare your hero as a defender.
  2. Play card “03033.”
  3. Click “End Event” to apply the effects of “03033.”
  4. Play card “09015.”

In the current version (v0.5.8.147), please avoid updating your hero’s DEF during non-basic defense events.

We appreciate your understanding, and we will address this issue in the next version.

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for sharing your crash report. The issue you encountered is caused by card “49002.” In the current version (v0.5.8.147), please avoid putting this card into play. If you already have this card in play, please refrain from flipping your hero to Alter-Ego form.

To continue your game, you can go to step 138 in your saved data.

We appreciate your patience, and we will address this issue in the next version.

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash file.

We have identified that the bug occurs when you attempt to update your hero’s DEF power by playing “48018” while the hero is not performing a basic defense. In the current version (v0.5.8.147), please avoid updating DEF during a non-basic defense message to prevent this issue.

We are actively working on a fix and will address this in the next version.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

I apologize for the delayed response; we’ve been researching this issue for some time.

There are only two timing triggers for spending a card:

  1. When you spend this card (e.g., “32018”)
  2. After you spend this card (e.g., “12006”)

Here’s a simplified logic of how a player plays a card:

1. The initiating player selects the card to play, targets, and cards for generating resources.
2. Paying the cost:
    1. Begin paying the cost.
    2. For each card that generates resources:
        1. Begin generating resources.
        2. Check the resources this card has.
        3. Discard this card itself.
        4. The initiating player gains the resources.
        5. End generating resources.
    3. End paying the cost.
3. Check if the resources the player has can cover the cost of the card being played.
4. If yes:
    1. Place the card in the play area.
    2. ...
5. If no, the initiating player loses all resources gained.

I believe the card should only be placed in the play area after the cost has been checked. Before the card generates resources, it’s unclear how much will be gained.

Additionally, I think the trigger for “When you spend this card” should occur after “Begin generating resources,” while “After you spend this card” should trigger before “End generating resources.” This way, when “32018” triggers, “32017” remains on top of the deck, so “32018” will draw “32017.”

However, I’m not entirely certain this is correct, so I’d like to change the tag of this thread to a discussion. If you find any FAQs that address this, please let me know.

By the way, the two timings, “When you spend this card” and “After you spend this card” are very close, and no events or effects occur between them, and we only implemented one.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Hi Adrian79Ko,

Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your support and enthusiasm for this game.

At this time, we don’t have plans to package a Linux or Mac version, but it’s great to hear that you were able to get it running smoothly using Whisky. Your detailed instructions will surely help others who want to try it out.

Thanks again for reaching out!

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for your detailed report regarding the card “27044”. We have successfully reproduced the bug you described, and we appreciate your thorough explanation.

The issue stems from an error in the script writing for this card, which is causing it to trigger incorrectly when a S.H.I.E.L.D. ally takes any damage, rather than only takes consequential damage.

Our team is currently working on a fix, and we aim to have this resolved in the next update. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the game experience.

If you have any further questions or encounter any other issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We appreciate your detailed report regarding the card “27036”.

We acknowledge that the action is currently not functioning as intended, allowing the removal of threat from any scheme instead of just the one with the least threat. This is indeed a bug that affects all cards with similar “least threat” and “most threat” effects.

Our team is already working on a fix, and we aim to resolve this in the next update. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the game.

If you have any further questions or encounter any other issues, please feel free to reach out.

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for your suggestion! We appreciate your input and understand the value of having an Auto Activate feature for individual cards.

We did have a version of the game where all cards were set to Auto Activate, but we rolled it back due to some challenges that arose. However, your idea of adding a checkbox in the top right corner of each card is a great one and sounds feasible.

We’ll definitely consider this for future updates when we have the time to implement it. Thanks again for your hard work and for sharing your thoughts!

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for your bug report!

In current version, if you control 2 Psi-Knives, you can only remove 1 threat from 2 different schemes. Likewise, with 2 Psi-Katanas, you can only deal 2 damage to 2 different enemies.

We appreciate your feedback, and we will address this issue in the next version.

Thank you for helping us improve the game!

Hi @Average4PlayersGame,

Thank you for your detailed bug report!

Bug 1: Adam Warlock Alter-Ego Action
The issue you encountered is due to an update in our target selection logic. Currently, status cards are not considered to be in play, which results in this ability not having valid targets. We will address this issue in the next update.

Bug 2: Ghost-Spider’s Ability
Regarding the situation with Ghost-Spider, it seems you are using hero “27001a” to defend against a villain with boost card “32094,” which has the effect of exhausting your identity. After this, you play “27002,” which triggers at “After Ghost-Spider uses a basic power.”

You are correct that “27002” should only trigger after the entire attacking event has concluded. We found a rule that supports your observation:

If an ability triggers after a character uses a basic power, that ability triggers after an attack in which a character made a basic defense resolves.

We acknowledge this oversight on our part and will update the logic to ensure it functions correctly in the next version.

Thank you for your feedback, and please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns!

Hi @phiology,

Thank you for sharing your crash file.

We noticed that you attempted to place a Confused status card on a Side Scheme, which is not allowed, and this is why the game crashed.

In your case, you played “15004,” which discarded three cards: “11029,” “01186,” and “11024.” The game first processed “11029,” which has three boost icons. As a result, you should choose to place a status card on a character instead of a scheme.

We will address this issue and ensure that selecting a scheme is not permitted in the next version.

Additionally, we noticed that you selected the challenge “Need for Speed” for this scenario. In this challenge, you can only win the game by attacking the Speed Demon minion three times in one turn with the Quicksilver hero. While you can play as “Scarlet Witch”, the challenge is designed for “Quicksilver”.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash file.

The crash occurred because you played card “03033” without using your hero’s basic DEF power. In the current version (0.5.8.147), please avoid updating DEF during a non-basic defense message to prevent this issue.

We will address this in the next version.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash report.

The game crashed due to the following sequence of events:

When your hero defends against an attack using a basic power, the game creates and broadcasts a message: when your hero defends against an attack. You played card “38016” in response to that message, which is perfectly fine.

However, because “38016” has the ‘defense’ label, it creates and broadcasts a new message: when your hero defends against an attack by triggering an ability labeled as a 'defense'. We refer to this as a non-basic defense.

When you then played card “48018” for the second message, it triggered a rule that prevents you from updating your DEF for a non-basic defense message, similar to the previous error. This is why the game crashed.

To avoid this crash in the current version (0.5.8.147), please follow these steps:

  1. Declare your hero as a defender.
  2. Play “38016”.
  3. Click “End Event” to apply the +2 DEF from “38016” to your hero.
  4. Play “48018”.
  5. Click “End Event” to apply the +2 DEF from “48018” to your hero.
  6. Play other cards, e.g., “03033”.
  7. Click “End Event” to allow the other card to update the DEF for your hero.

We apologize for this inconvenience and will address this issue in the next version.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash report.

We noticed that you were playing “03033” while your hero became the defender due to the card “27014,” which has a ‘defense’ label.

It seems you intended to use “03033”’s ability to gain +3 DEF. However, the rulebook states:

Playing a defense-labeled ability is not a basic defense and does not cause a hero to reduce the amount of damage dealt by that hero’s DEF.

This means that while your hero can gain the DEF, it will not affect the damage reduction as intended.

As a result, we implemented an assertion to prevent this situation, which caused the game to crash. We will remove this assertion in the next version to prevent this issue from occurring again.

Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your feedback!

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash report.

We have identified that the issue is caused by card “47018.” We apologize for not implementing the gain in REC power in version v0.5.8.147. Please rest assured that we have addressed this bug in our development version.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.

Hi @phiology,

Thank you for your bug report regarding v0.5.8.147. We appreciate your feedback and the details you’ve provided.

I understand that you experienced issues with selecting the “Multiple Men” card, playing “Double Time” without available targets, and activating “Serval Industries” to select cards other than “Always Be Running.”

It’s possible that some elements on the HTML page may be interfering with mouse actions. In many cases, refreshing the page (by pressing F5) can resolve these types of issues. If you haven’t tried that yet, please give it a shot and let us know if it helps.

Additionally, if you could provide any additional context or steps you took before encountering these issues, it would be very helpful in our investigation.

  • Regarding the warnings you mentioned, they are related to debugging and do not impact the functionality of the game.
  • If you prefer the old render mode, you can easily switch back by removing 3d_scene from your browser URL at any time, even while you are playing. For example, change http://127.0.0.1:2345/?hot_seat&3d_scene to http://127.0.0.1:2345/?hot_seat.
  • Regarding the replay file, you can save your game at any time by clicking the QSave button and uploading the saved file save_0.json to help us identify the issue.

Thank you again for your input, and we hope to resolve this issue soon!

Hi @SanctumSanctorum,

I’m so glad to hear that the issue is resolved and everything is working great now!

If you have any more questions or need further assistance in the future, feel free to reach out. Thank you for your patience, and happy gaming!

Hi @SanctumSanctorum,

Thank you for your detailed bug report!

It sounds like you’re encountering a MIME type issue with loading JavaScript module scripts. Specifically, you might see an error message like this in your browser:

Failed to load module script: Expected a JavaScript module script but the server responded with a MIME type of “text/plain”. Strict MIME type checking is enforced for module scripts per HTML spec.

If you are seeing this error, it may be related to how your system is configured to handle .js files. We use the mimetypes library to determine the MIME type, which reads data from your Windows registry.

Please check the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.js

Ensure that the Content Type is set to application/javascript instead of text/plain. Make sure to back up your registry before making any changes.

To make it easier, here is a registry file you can use to set the correct values:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.js]
@="JSFile"
"Content Type"="application/javascript"
"PerceivedType"="text"

After updating this key, you won’t need to restart your PC; just restart the game, and everything should work fine.

If the issue persists or if the Content Type is already set correctly, please provide us with more details about the error.

Regarding why you didn’t encounter this issue in v0.5.8.74:

In that version, we used the following code:

<script src="/public/js/xxx.js" defer></script>

In later versions, we updated the code to:

<script type="module">
    import { XXX } from "/public/js/xxx.js";

This change may have introduced stricter MIME type requirements.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to resolving this issue!

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for providing detailed steps to reproduce this bug.

We have identified that this issue occurs in the deck editor in version 0.5.8.147. To resolve it in the current version, please edit the “set_aside” key in your deck to match the starter deck using any text editor (e.g. VSCode).

We appreciate your patience, and we will address this bug in the next version.

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash report.

The crash appears to be caused by card “35018.” When you use this card to defeat an Ultron facedown minion (whose original type isn’t an enemy), the minion reverts to its original type after being defeated. This transition leads to a crash because card “35018” attempts to interact with it as if it were still a minion.

We appreciate your help in identifying this issue, and we will work on a fix.

Hi @8uttmunch,

Thank you for sharing your crash report.

The crash is caused by cards “06019” and “46014.” After you attack an enemy with the upgrade “46014,” using “06019”’s ability to deal 2 damage to the same enemy and defeat them will result in a game crash.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve these issues.

Hi @makstfate,

Thank you for your report. We have tested the card “34001a” in version 0.5.8.147, and everything appears to be functioning correctly. You should be able to use her “Psionic Bond” power to generate wild resources without any issues.

If you’re still experiencing problems, please provide more details about the situation so we can assist you further.
