the reason to not use the mouse is so that you dont click accidentaly between waves on it! Also, I programmed it in C and havent made selection boxes with click yet so thought it would also make my life easier to just use a number haha

thanks for the input. One thing I would change at this point is limit the red balloon max speed more (there is a limit but is too high at the moment). it could even scale with wave number, as some things in this game do. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it!

It is a mix of skill issue and bad balancing I would say! haha.

Ty for you input!

Great game! played until finishing. very satisfactory SFX. liked the mechanics. I see some space for expansion (maybe more campains or challenge mode without certain upgrades).

Thank you for the feedback! Definetly the progression is too steep. something to consider if I ever polish this game further. =)

hey, I almost exclusively used the fluid mode because it was so much faster. but also made me lose balls like crazy haha

Every once in a while in game jams you find talented programmers with an innovative idea. This game is it.

the idea of solving puzzle and killing enemys by being an amalgum of magnets is the kind of crazy idea that I would dismiss because of the challenge of programming it. You did an great job with the physics simulation, with the ideas (having solid, semi fluid and fluid was really smart). getting used to the controls and what each mode meant was awesome.

[spoilers] The puzzles are on point, and each uses different mechanics. Many times I see puzzle games using the same mechanics over and over again without anything new, and this cant be said for your game. The robots animations and having no sound is a bit lackluster, but to me the game shines even without that polish.

Conclusion: to me, this is what an interesting game jam game is. it can clearly be expanded, and IMO would be a succesful game if done. Great job!

ok, imma be honest - at first I thought the game loop was a bit uninteresting. but very fast I got immersed in the loop of running and catching stuff to fodder lol and quickly was having a blast. the sprites are REALLY cute, the music is good and SFX is compatible. As the other comment said, I am sad that there is no ending, because this game deserves one. Please make one after the jam is over if you have time!

some suggestions:

- I would prefer if I didnt need to hold middle mouse to rotate, just have my cursor stuck like usual FPS unity games do

- I think the spawn of fruits should be limited per number of fruits

- I have no idea what telling NPCs to go do to help me haha

overall, a very enjoyable experience. Congrats on doing this game!

Ah! didnt know of the restrictions. Actually, now that you say it, it really does give a nostalgy on older games that usually had a very limited view. In this case, I backtrack my other comment and I think the way it is is very fine! reminds me of VVVVV, which is an incredible game =)

like you said, I had to tab out to be able to start the game, but I am glad I did! you created a great atmosphere. not sure if was the intention, but I felt a bit of a rage platformer lol. I think I would prefer if I could see a bit more of the screen - maybe even a button to zoom out so you can keep the pixel size for most of the time? or specific places of the level where you can zoom out. either way, cool interpretation of the theme, I enjoyed the crisp movement!

haha awesome interpretation of the theme. I really enjoyed the SFX and the crysp look. Great job for the first game! I do think sometimes I was unable to jump even though I pressed space, but maybe I am just bad haha. definetly not enviroment friendly xD

Very cool concept! I really like the crisp movement and the aesthetic you got on here. missed sounds and music tho.

I think the best strategy is to keep running on the boarder without attacking so you dont expand healt. was able to survive for more than 5 minutes like that, but then game started lagging due to entity quantity lol. I think there is a very good potential here - but at current state I am not sure if I "get" the main loop, since attacking seems to be sjust shortening my life haha. I do think it it very on point with the theme tho!

its definetly a hard game. I think the most I could get to was wave 13 or something. Thank you for the feedback!

(1 edit)

I agree very much that the knockback should be lower - also the ice should have a bit more friction. ended up not playtesting the game enough, but I think it is fun!

Thank you a lot for the feedback!

Had a hard time understanding the controls and what you can actually do when launching the missle. Cool take on the theme tho!

Wow! amazing art style and great story telling. very compelling! more content than I would expect for a jam. Nice game!

amazing game! great art, great concept, great sound, 10/10 would play again

oh wow! very deep gameplay and different logics for a game jam.  Definitely hard on understanding the concepts at first, but cool after you get what things mean. nice job!

++ for the very original concept. not sure I understand what right click does, but definitely a cool concept and satisfying wall bounce sound lol

very hard to keep flow but satisfying when you can!

nice take on the theme! really liked the innovative controls.

a bit hard to get the controls! cool concept, quite hard to finish!

I liked the mechanic! felt a bit unforgiving on the launches somehow.

cute game! got the current high score xd

Nice adherence to the theme! very cute and charming.

Fun and pretty hard! nice job!

my wife said "go big rat, go!"

lol

nice job!

19.867 official WR so far!

Thank you for the kind review!

Fun game! The gameplay is fun - I think it would add to the game if the final score was a function of health + doing in the least amount of time.

Also as a challenge, I played pacific - the game became a challenging bullet hell. Maybe could go for that route too!

I liked the color scheme a lot! Cool game!

Great sounds! For some reason the web build ran very slow, but I think it is an issue on my end.

Cute!

why is this submitted in a 3 day game jam?

Awesome game! interesting take. feels almost like a base defense!

Pretty fun!

couldn't go past the tutorial, 10/10

Very nice concept! hope you can finish it soon!

Am I dumb or is it impossible to hit a duck? playing on web with microsoft edge.

Thank you! Slightly inspired by Foddian games :)
