Hey, thanks so much for playing!

Now that I'm a few months divorced from this project it's much easier to look at the game with a critical eye and not a "oh god i've got to get this finished in time" eye. I *do* think that the pacing is probably one of it's biggest issues LOL. Definitely something I'm keeping in mind for my next project!

Anyway I really appreciate the feedback :) Thanks again!

I saw that!!

It had me blushing and giggling and kicking my feet not gonna lie heehee

Heyy, I'm so sorry about that!

It very likely COULD be a bug, there's a lot of little things I probably didn't account for and am unaware of.

I recorded a walkthrough of the game here, so if you'd like you can see what the intended solution is for that area:

Hey Kids! This is Advertising! Full Walkthrough

Also, if there is a gamebreaking bug in a level, I do have a reset level button hidden in the options menu. But that's not super ideal LOL I'd rather just have things work. Sorry that happened to you!

Thanks so much for playing though, I really appreciate it :)

Thank you so much! And LOL YES that video is FANTASTIC. I don't think it's touched on in that video but the company that made the lindt website has a rich tapestry of metaverse slop with a bunch of weird branded websites. Great source of inspiration for this project!

Arrrgh im sorry! I'm completely unfamiliar with Linux so I don't think I'll be able to help you, unfortunately the game was just made and tested with windows.

Oh I didn't even think of that! I should have played my own game and pretended to have a really really good time LOL

WHAAT omg thank you so much! I didn't realize I had commited so hard to the bit that it had become a reality... I'm glad it was convincing!

And thanks so much! I'm kind of fascinated by all that metaverse stuff, it truly feels like a concept that was dead on arrival.

(1 edit)

Aww, thanks so much! I'm glad people are playing :)

Commenting here to let you know that the bug has been FIXED and I also added a thing in the options menu to let you restart a website instead of the whole entire game if there are any more softlocks. Kinda too little too late for you but putting this here in writing in case anyone else gets stuck at a different point.

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention!

Oh shoot, I'm sorry I think that's a bug 😭 thanks for letting me know! He stops moving after he catches you, and then will start chasing you again after he sees you, so if he's camped right on the the spot where youre teleported in then thats not good, i should have thought about that!

I'll update soon 😭 my bad!!

Hey everyone!

A few of you might have seen some of the comments I've left, but I've been streaming through every single game submitted to the Liminal Game Jam. I thought I'd go ahead and post all my stream archives here! I hope this doesn't come off as clout-chasey LOL

While I was making my submission for the Liminal Game Jam I was thinking, "man I really hope someone plays my game and puts a video of it in the comments so I can watch someone's reaction," and then I realized probably every other developer would also want that. So I played every single game!

Games played are mostly in alphabetical order, except for a couple that I had issues with and returned to at the end. I also didn't play my own game LOL so check that out on your own time! Time stamps are in the description of each video, and I'll go ahead and list what games are played in each one.

Also I should probably mention, since I think a few of the people that submitted to the jam are kinda young, I say BAD words in these videos! Nothing too crazy, but viewer discretion advised. Anyway here they aaare~

This game is SUPER cool! Such an awesome aesthetic and sense of style, and the music is GREAT!

It's a criminal act that there's not any playthroughs of your game down here in these comments. I played the first act of chapter 1 on stream and I was thinking about it all day at work and how I needed to jump back in and finish... Thought I'd go ahead and share it here! I play around 3:24:50

This game is REALLY really cool! Everything OOZES style and the writing is very sharp! The art is great and the music is chef's KISS!

The mechanics are also really clever, I love the ability to equip different moods and intentions, and the way that they are unlocked through your choices in the story is a really smart way to marry the story and gameplay in a meaningful way. Kind of obsessed the more I think about it tbh!

I didn't realize just how long it was going to be, so I haven't fully finished the demo, but from what I've played i'm VERY hyped for a full release. Really great work!

This game is really really neat, it's simple but it feels fully realized. Great concept and art style. Gave me the same kind of fear that five nights at freddys did when i was a kid!

Thanks for not throwing in super loud jumpscares LOL I was listening so closely while playing and I was also very paranoid that whenever i DID get a loud jumpscare it would make me deflate like a balloon. So it was a nice surprise that when I lost that didn't happen. Great stuff!

I had a lot of fun with this one! All of the stuff with showing and hiding objects was REALLY clever, I thought the whole tablet mechanic thing was super duper cool, and creating your own ENGINE? That's insanely impressive.

I'll be honest, I DID end up getting stumped by the tree/alchemy puzzle, so I was unable to reach the end, but for every other puzzle i solved I felt very smart. Thanks for letting me feel smart!

This game is JAW-DROPPINGLY gorgeous, there were so many moments playing where I had to just stop and soak in the ambience. You did some craaazy magical stuff with the lighting. Also there were a few times I was extremely scared! What a combo! Great work!

This game had some SUPER clever spacial puzzles! Having the art style directly affect the way you think about the environment and how to traverse it was such a cool mechanic. Great work!

LOL THANK youu! I wanted it to be STUPID but REALISTIC so I'm glad it worked out hehe

Woah, thanks for the thoughtful response! Just want to say again that your game had so much to dig into, really cool stuff and the amount of content and depth within makes it REALLY stand out among its peers.

I wanna go ahead and respond to some of your responses hehe:

  • You fixed that video issue QUICK, I checked the new version of the game and the videos look great :) just letting you know in case you haven't heard from anyone but the videos absolutely work now. I feel like unreal engine is really good at having random things break without anyone ever knowing LOL I know I've been there with video files.
  • Dude that's INSANE that there WAS a basketball minigame and I was just BAD at it! Sorry for all the heinous things I said, you get double triple bonus points! Love that! Also there was a SKIBALL MINIGAME I can't believe it... I gotta go back in...
  • As for the keys in the final area, I might have missed a pointer to what I was supposed to unlock, but in my mind I knew that the bedroom door was locked and that was ultimate goal, so after reading the note I assumed that was where I should go next. I think if there is some sort of hint there, it should maybe be telegraphed a bit more obviously? I know for the key to the box with the note Henry says something after you pick it up, so there COULD be something like that, but it might feel weird to hear "This is the key to under the sink!" after reading that note LOL. I'd say it might be better to just have that key be the one that leads to the bedroom door. Might just be me though!
  • REALLY REALLY good Matt Berry impression oh my gosh I really thought you were him!

Again, I really liked your game! Good work :) Also I'm adding you on discord now :P

This is a REALLY detailed and meaty game for how fast the turnaround time was! It seems very polished in certain areas (especially the UI and pickups, those are super super cool), and the trippier locations are really awesome. I appreciated the thought that went into crafting a compelling story, and I think what you achieved so quickly is nothing short of impressive.

I will say I got a LITTLE frustrated near the end, I think I got a key for a certain location when I thought it would be another... I'm being coy because i don't want to give any spoilers, but I played your game on stream at around 3:13:05 if you want to see some live feedback.

The art and character design in this game is SOO GOOD, a very nice unified aesthetic! I'm a sucker for a good visual novel and that's exactly what this is. Great work!

Such a pretty game! Extremely unnerving even without any jumpscares or outright horror. Really really neat.

I played your game on stream here around 2:33:03 if you want to see a reaction :P

Really good stuff, PEAK classic iconic liminal spaces! I felt like I was always in danger even though I'm pretty sure I never really was, which is such a cool feeling to achieve. Also, you guys get mega crazy bonus points for including a RACING MINIGAME oh my gosh that was so thrilling to see included.

All of the 2d painted art in this game looks REALLY good, the mannequin head is delightfully unnerving. I'm honestly really bad at those types of riddles where you have to figure out who's who, so the main puzzle was very difficult for me BUT I made it through! You made me feel very proud of myself! Thank you!

I played your game here on stream at around 1:41:40 if you want to see a live reaction :)

I really like the way these games look, the use of realistic textures in RPG maker kind of give it a collage look. The lore is also really fascinating here, it left me wanting to know more. Cool stuff!

I honestly REALLY dig the conversation mechanics in this game, the way that you can bring up any topic to anyone is so so cool. From what I played, the lore seemed really interesting and rich, too. Nice stuff!

SUCH a pretty game, the visuals are exactly what i think of when i think "liminal." You guys did a good job of making me feel unnerved the whole time even when there was no real threat. Good stuff!!

This game has SUCH a strong identity, the aesthetic is soo delicious. Also kind of obsessed with the main menu. I definitely wasn't expecting it but I reached a certain level of zen playing the game, it was oddly really relaxing. I feel like it would pair really well with a podcast clip or a drama video the way people put Clustertruck or Subway Surfers footage next to a different video on tiktok. I mean that as a compliment LOL it was really good stuff!

This game looks really nice! I was a big fan of the supermarket shelving area with all the lighting... good stuff! I also did let out a genuine scream when I was attacked by the creature in the bathroom area... you got me GOOD!

Cool game! I really liked talking to all the characters and learning the lore.

I wasn't able to make it past (what I assume was) the final boss, it seemed like it's health was extremely high, but I had a lot of fun playing through the game up until then. Good work!

Oohh, sorry, that one's not communicated super well TBH! Look for a coupon code in the "placeholder matching game" area to the left of the flavor quiz, and you should be able to use it in the promotional code area of the shopping cart after you add the golden truffle :)

And thanks so much for playing!

REALLY pretty game! I think the final area was my favorite, with all the blue light coming thru the windows. The lighting is kind of insanely good there :)

Really REALLY liked this game! The amount of variety in just 20 minutes is bananas. I also got deliriously excited when I saw that stop motion puppet... exquisite.

Played it here on stream at around 1:05:30

This is absolutely one of my favorite games I've played so far in this jam... The amount of effort that went into it is CRAZY! So much variety... The designs are all fantastic, especially the little hexagon head guys, and the PUPPET?! Oh my god I'm obsessed. Genuinely had a smile on my face the whole time I played. Great work!

I enjoyed this game! I'm not sure if there was a goal exactly, but I think the environment looks really nice.

I'm gonna be honest, just now while typing this comment I realized that "Liekea" is a pun and pronounced "Ikea..." I did fully think it was a French word. While exploring the game, though, I was definitely getting Ikea vibes. Good work!

This game has a really cool visual style, and I can tell that a lot of care and effort went into making it. It  feels like its dripping with symbolism and if I wanted to really dig into it I could take out a lot of meaning. Almost feels more like an art project than a game. Really cool stuff!

This game was super neat! A simple concept that builds in a really interesting way.

Played your game on stream around 15:30

Really liked this game! The gimmick was fun, and things escalated in a very cool way. Just a really neat little experience :)

REALLY cool game, it also gave me the biggest Skinamarink vibes. The audio mixing was super nice, and the visuals were delightfully chilling. Great work!

I *did* run into a bug where I ended up clipping outside of the house (I think?). I was streaming the game, you can see it happening around 3:35

I REALLY really like the visuals of this game! I think the clay textures on everything look really good and unique.
That being said, I'd love the options to turn off motion blur and head bobbing, I think that mixed with the lower framerates in some areas made me feel a bit motion sick while playing.
Great concept, though!
