I had the tab open in my browser for a while, finally played it before the next LD! It’s pretty nice and easy to play to the end!
I like the mood warmed up with the intro. The rhino rushing is conveyed by the acceleration on move, which also matches the obstacle crush mechanic.
Progression is nice although a bit slow for a player like me (but each step makes sense), and the meta-mechanic of placement adds a layer on top of everything. Perceived puzzle difficulty tends to drop on new mechanic introduction, but that’s common and good to get used to further mechanic combination.
A few issues I had:
- no full keyboard support, nor full mouse/touch support (need mouse and keyboard)
- at first I thought that obstacle crush was defined for each obstacle for each level. Only later, in level 15 did I understand that it was true for all rocks and logs. Then I wondered if I had actually never hit a rock or log with such a high distance in all the previous levels…
- if you click on a log or rock to check required crush distance, only one value is temporarily shown. There is no way to show all values, nor to show them permanently, anymore.
