Exhilarating! I think more references to T.M. Wood's "SAP" would bring this piece together nicely.  Otherwise, the story is captivating and light hearted while subtly reinforcing its thesis: committing theft is always justified.

The story of growth and change is a tale as old as time -  A man (or toad) lives his life in comfort and familiarity, but shifts their life in an unexpected, almost contradictory direction. Upon meeting Terrance the Turtle, Octavius Schmingle decides to adopt a lifestyle that is frowned upon, yet this new perspective on life gives him greater meaning. This man (toad) has found personal fulfillment, and carries on headstrong despite being ostracized by his peers. Should he be shunned?

The answer is yes and no. Yes, because modern society is built upon its occupants following the rules. No, because those rules are meant to allow one's pursuit of fulfillment in life (a type of fulfillment that is achieved by our protagonist). This is the oxymoronic quality of existing amongst others - there are different approaches to one's fulfillment in life - no one is right. To reiterate - THEFT IS ALWAYS JUSTIFIED. Thank you.

10/10 - the frog from SAP
