It's an interesting game. Not my fav cathegory, but not bad.
The artwork is very good, and the writing have a realism to it that I don't see too often.
The love interests fits the game.
Non I particularly like, but then again, I tend to favor villains.
In general I hate mini-games in visual novel with a passion.
But at least this one isn't as bad as most of them are.
(Thank Satan I can solve them with pen and paper and a lot of patience at least. The last two mini-game I tried to get thought in games I played before this was was impossible to solve. >_> )
....which translates into: One of the better mini-games I've seen.
I am surprised at the gaming criteria for the contest.
I select Visual Novel games primarily based on love interest first, concept second.
(Although they tend to intertwine.)
I don't even notice voice acting or music, to be fair.
(I tend to turn them off cuz they disrupt my reading. ^_^; )
I have a lot of games I love that have really shitty artwork,
and a few that I'm pretty sure I could write better myself.
But where I love the love interest (and concept.)
(Think one of them is in black-and-white. And not on purpose. More like the creator may have drawn it in class.)
Good art is a nice bonus, but not a criteria for buying the game.
I also have a growing dislike for traditional Otome games from big producers that all follow the same basic script and have the same basic love-interests.
Cuz they -claim- to have a villain, or amoral characters, but somehow they ALWAYS end up some kind of shitty anti-heroes instead, with a 'just' cause. >_>
(Other games I choose based on concept first,
love interest if there is any as a bonus,
visual...and rarely if ever sound.
Ironically game-play I mainly like anything as long as it doesn't annoy me.
And as long as the story is good, I tend to come back and play more after I've cooled down if it did annoy me.)
So I'm really surprised to see what the competitions in this game (and I presume in real life) look for in a game.
Cuz it doesn't mesh with my reasons for buying a game.
....people in this game is weirdly focuse on the mc being a girl.
I don't get it. oO
Do girls usually get more uncomfortable about those kind of things or something?
(I can't figure out if it's a culture thing or a me being insane and thus not noticing thing. >_> )
Cuz it sounded like the topic of the first game your team makes is supposed to be uncomfortable or something.
I'm still looking for the choices that will actually impact how this game turns out in the end tho. I haven't seen a single choice that seems impactful as of yet. (I don't count mini-games as a 'choice'.)
There is extremely few choices in this game.
Normally something I really hate.
But the writing is so good, and the story pulls you in so much that it isn't as noticeable as it normally would be.
(And far less annoying.)
Overall this game is good enough that I might actually buy it if I can find it on Steam.
(I literally never buy games elsewhere unless they're huge MMO's like WoW and SWTOR.)
This isn't the type of game I usually play (no villains, no horror, nothing dark and wicked...)
But I was running out of the type of games I liked, and checked this out, and lo and behold; It was surprisingly good! oO
So, yeah... Kudos on that. ^_^
