Developer

Thanks! Will keep it!

Cool first game! I liked the character game feel.

Developer

Thanks for playing!!

For a first project ever this is really well made i gotta say :o

The controls feel quite precise and i like some of the details like the pipes being one way platforms, and the little text prompts like when you come across the spiked area without the dynamite.

If i had to nitpick i'll just point 2 small things out, the character movement is a bit slow and the large map size doesn't really help with that feeling, and the melee range seems a bit short and hard to estimate, as you can often get hit while hitting enemies.

Other than these, it's still solid regardless and that is especially impressive for a first game !

On a side note though, DAT pain scream when you get hit O_o

Anyway, congrats and well done :)

Thanks! After playing your game I was hopping you play mine, I thought you would like it and would be able to give me some nice feedback...

I'm working on my next project for the Metroidvania month Jam, and thoe two points were the first things I gave attention.

Don't get me wrong i liked your game, so i hope i didn't get misunderstood here :)

also that's cool that you're participating to the metroid vania month, i've seen this jam pop up a few times and it seems awesome so good luck about that and it'll be cool to check out what you post there too.

HOOOAH

i was hurting inside each time i got hit, very immersive

Developer

hahaha

I thought it was a little bit too dramatic, but didn't had the time to record myself for the Sfx, next game I wanna make all the Sfx myself.

As a first project this is really EPIC. I liked the intro it reminded me of the classic Fallout, it looked so professional. Good job

Developer

Thanks!! I did my best, already start a new project for the metroidvania Jam, all the feedback is being really nice for me to continue!

this was an interesting experience. seems like theres some big story seeds there, especially in the set up. fantastic job on the music!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot Em

Very good storytelling at the beginning.

On gameplay, the controls are very responsible and fluid and the objectives are intuitive (good level design work here). I need to say the hitboxes of enemies are too big, it's easy to take damage for the first play.

Anyway, well done! I really enjoy it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The oozes ended up being more lethal than I expected haha

Submitted(+1)

Nice work! Using the dynamite is very satisfying! I only wish I could run faster :)

Developer

A running option is the first thing to implement.

Thanks!!

Very cool for a first game. Kind of a mystical atmosphere. I always tried to kill all enemies, but failed after a couple.  :D

Developer

haha You underestimate the Ether Oozes xD

Thanks for playing!!

Well done for a first project. Continue like this !

Developer

Thanks!!

Very nice especially for a first project. It was a little too hard for me but I liked what I played. Keep up the good work :)

Developer

Thanks!! I'm working on every feedback I got, to participate on this jam was great.

Nice game for a first jam entry, be proud :) I think I had a bug at the end elevator, the prompt was showing and disappearing too quickly. I found a way around to see the "congratulations!" message.

Developer

You found the secret way to hack the elevator... just kidding I couldn't fix this bug in time xD

wow, mines ruler simulator :)

Nicely done for a first game! I think the combat could use some tweaking, but I love the music and magic world. I wonder all the surprises ether is reserving for us ;-)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks a lot, I put a lot of work on the music hahaha

Did you get to the end?? I couldn't talk for the rest of the day after recording the 5 voices of that song ahahahahahh

Submitted(+1)

Great for you first game! I think you could benefit of either reducing the cooldown between the attacks, or using a larger hitbox to hit the enemies.

Developer

Yeah, the attacks could be faster indeed, thanks for the feedback!!

Atmosphere and sounds are really cool. Some details (look down) were already discussed in comments, maybe just one thing to mention: some pipes (vertical) are used as background, while others (horizontal) are used as platforms. At first I didn't realized, that those pipes are also platforms - I think that if you would do different color for "background pipes" it would more strike to the eyes, that pipes are platforms as well (although I understand the time limits of the jam ;) )
Overly, great game indeed!

Developer(+1)

Wow, the different color for background pipes are something that would make it a lot better, thanks for the feedback.

Loved the atmosphere and sound design. The enemies could have dropped some reward like health pickups in my opinion. Overall very well designed game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! My original plan was a level up system with the monsters giving Exp, but i didn't had the time to implement it.

For your first game, I'd say you did a pretty good job! There is always room for improvement, of course. One thing I noticed is that the player hurtbox is a bit bigger and the hitbox is a bit small. The controls feel kinda slow, but I guess that's the movement you're going for considering the genre.

Other than that, I enjoyed playing it.

Developer

About the movement, I didn't had the time (or talent) to make a running sprite, and I felt like it would be a little strange if he was faster while walking. Thanks for the feedback.

Good job!

Liked the song

Nice game!

You have a lot of features and they are all well executed, even if it is one level.

Good job!

One suggestion: when you need to fall to a lower level, there are enemies sometimes on the bottom that there is no way for the player to know, so maybe you can improve that vertical movement a bit.

Developer

Thanks man, I wanted to put a control to move down the camera on the pressing of the down key, or something like that, but I didn't had the time to learn how. :D
