A downloadable Software for Windows and Linux

ChronoScope is a simple Calendar/Notes app for PC.

Yes. I know your grandma's sewing machine has a calendar app. I know your smart toilet has a calendar app. There's a million of them. I use about 17 of them. But there was one that was missing. This one.

* No live services, no email integration, no integrations of any sort, no "clouds", just simple, honest-to-god software that saves files locally.
* No clicking to go between months. Time is a single, continuously scrollable column. Months are not that useful of a concept. They are sufficiently distinguished with subtly alternating background tones.
* Mark different kinds of events or notes with different icons or UTF8 characters of different colors, and choose how they are positioned in the cell!
* keep track of things like how many days old you are, and what percentage of the present year has gone by. It's morbid, but in a good way, I think.
* Highly customizable, speaks yaml fluently, can be used as a GUI to output timestamped yaml data.

i just wanna say that i really appreciate how you added a way to customize the greeting string. the percentage of the year and total life days was making me anxious, so i was glad to find out it's removable!

Oh, I'm very glad to hear that! Any other feedback you have, I'm all ears! Still plan to work on this thing for a long time!

yeah! i've got a few suggestions and things to say, actually, if you don't mind hearing them! this is kinda disorganized but i hope it's helpful at least a little bit akhjsdlf. will definitely be keeping an eye out for any future software you develop; this style of app is very appealing to me as a disabled person.

1. i think it'd be good to make the window resizable- i noticed that i can't seem to resize it on my pc (at least by clicking and dragging), which confused me a bit. the size of it isn't bad, i just think it would be nice to be able to make it bigger or smaller

2. allow the user to pre-create a 'reusable' event, such as using a green square for a certain class time. then, the user could drag and drop a green square onto that day, and it would automatically add the time and description! i think this would be an excellent feature, and probably the one i'd be most interested in out of what i've listed here. (it actually might be already possible, but it's not obvious to me at least). or potentially allow the user to input an event as "weekly", similarly to how there's a "yearly" option.

3. i really really love the simplistic UI and how easy it is on the eyes. no loud obnoxious colors, and a simple interface that's easy to understand. just good software design, no distractions... it's pretty much exactly what i was looking for in a calendar app.

4. i found a bug: when you move the scroll wheel, the user-defined events blink out of existence... until you add a new event and go back to the calendar page, where they reappear

omg, quality feedback.......... is it christmas already?? hhhieheihi

1. This is possible! You can change the height and width of the window in the config file! Might be a bit fiddly, granted.. while you're there you probably want to increase the font sizes too.. I might consider some way to automate all this... maybe a global scaling factor..

2. The solution I came up with for recurring events is the "Bulker" companion app! You can use that to create notes for all your green square classes of the year at once!

3. ðŸ˜Š

4. Well that sounds bad! I can't reproduce it over here.. You mean like you were just scrolling around and then poof? Does it happen often? Any more details you can give are highly appreciated!

haha, i'm a dev myself so i totally understand how rare quality feedback is to come by! glad it could help :D

1. OHHH okay this makes sense!! i'll have to check it out later when i'm back on my pc (currently on my laptop... i almost wish there was a way to sync data between two computers but at the same time that would overcomplicate the app dramatically)

2. ahh okay! so the bulker app is contained within the files for chronoscope? sounds great, thank you!

4. yup, so basically every time i used the scroll wheel on my mouse (even just by one 'tick'), the custom icons/events that i added wouldn't show up. even clicking on the day that they were on wasn't showing the data. however, i found that creating a new icon/event on any day made the icons and events that had vanished pop back up. upon deleting the new event, as long as i didn't scroll, the icons remained in place. does that make sense?

Hi! I'm interested in using this calendar app. But I see the Linux version has stopped receiving any updates, are you planning on updating it as well or are you just offering support for Windows?

Thanks!

Hi there! I've got a few updates in the oven right now, I'll build the Linux version when I'm done as well. Cheers!

Okay, thank you so much!

Update is up!

This is awesome, great design!

Now I just need to figure out how to add events that happen periodically (for example: gym @ Thursday every week).

Also, it would be very nice to have a way to store an image file for each day, like a picture of something… at least for each month?

Thanks for the hard work!

Thank you very much!
I will definitely consider your suggestions! I already had plans for a little companion program to generate bulk events, how does that sound?
Adding images is tempting too, I'll see if I can think of a way to include them without adding too much complexity...

It sounds amazing!

I look forward to your updates.

Cheers!

Update is up! Let me know what you think of the Bulk note generator!

The bulk note generator is really great!

Thanks for the awesome update!
