This project moved here from https://code.google.com/p/emoji4unicode/ It had been developed there between 2008 and 2010 (with a few later updates) for organizing the data and generating charts for encoding Unicode symbol characters corresponding to the Japanese-cell-phone-carrier emoji. This project completed with the addition of more than 600 emoji symbols to Unicode 6.0. Another more than 100 emoji symbols were unified with characters that already existed in Unicode.
