Small VN engine for Visual novel games ======================================= It is also somewhat flexible for static screen games like some Arcadey or Visual Novel games. I wouldn't recommend this for a game that requires a scrolling level though as it's not suitable and flexible enough for that. (You will get breakage especially if multiple resolutions or aspect ratios are involved) Done ==== - High refresh rate support (use the Move functions to move images) - Multiple resolutions and aspect ratios (ultra wide resolutions not properly supported though) - Able to draw pictures, a sprite from a spritesheet and some text on-screen - Sprites can have their frames display according to a set time independant of the framerate. - Each picture/sprite can have their own opacity changed, useful for fade in/outs - Uses SDL2 meaning it's portable to other devices with an SDL2 port available. - Basic support for Gamepads and keyboard (treats keyboard as a big gamepad for now) - Images/Sprites/Background are scaled up according to relative values, not dependant on a certain resolution. - Support for Music, sound effects and voices. (Voices are loaded on the fly by their nature, sound effects can be loaded forever in memory up to 128, music is only loaded once and changed if there are changes) - Branching paths (2 choices) - Smooth transitions, with characters disappearing/appearing, fading in and out. - Loading text and commands from text files. (I will study encrypting the text file or come up with my own data format in the future to avoid spoilers) TODO ==== - Use proper assets now that the game is closer to be done. - Properly support Ultra-wide resolutions (still works for now but we need a better solution for text) - SDL 1.2 backend for OpenDingux devices. (the abstraction works good enough for this) - PS3 port with NoRSX or GXM library ? Other platform specific port (Sega 32X, Sony PSP, Xbox original, PS2 etc...) - Finish the actual game
