Space Impalers
SPACE IMPALERS is a shoot 'em up inspired by the game that started it all.
You play as a Tridentank defending the planet from space raiders. Use your in-built Space Harpoon to get rid of those pesky raiders!

NOTES:
- I was very much looking forward to creating music and sound effects, however I did not leave enough time to make them, sadly.
- There is a bug on the Game Over screen when pressing the Shoot button. I would personally recommend against pressing the Shoot button during the Game Over screen.
- A bug I am not sure where hails from sometimes stops the "Round Passed" screen from showing and breaks input. You will need to re-load your tab to keep playing.
- For an unknown reason, the player walls on the edge of the screen did not wall correctly in the uploaded version. Do not worry - there is no secret 6000km to the right...
- It seems I did not account for scores with more than 2 digits in the corner. If you are able to reach 1000, your score has officially gone Out of Bounds.

This game is a really cool take on space invaders! I'm not sure if I just didn't play far enough into the game but adding rounds that have increasingly more ships would be cool and make it more fun to see how far you can go. And I like the death effect too it's really cool.
Much obliged! This is very good feedback. I had a plan to add more levels to the game before I uploaded it. Alas, there was no more time...
I will definitely work on this game a little more after the jam and see what I can add.
a simple idea well executed! i didn't encounter any bugs on my playthrough.
It could be fun if you could also hit enemies as the harpoon came back down. That plus adding variable speed for different rows of enemies could create fun moments where you get multiple enemies with one shot, maybe if you shoot while moving the harpoon could maintain some directional velocity and hit a couple in a row diagonally.

Much appreciated! I am as surprised as I am pleased that you encountered no bugs...
I considered an idea since uploading where the enemies could be "squashed" as they come down and, later on in the game, you could hit multiple at the same time, giving you a score multiplier.

Great take on Space Invaders! because shooting makes you pause for a moment, you have to think about the bullets differently. Could definitely see the difficulty scaling well with some round variations. Nicely done!
