Snowstorm at Merced National Wildlife Refuge — made of geese, that is! 🤪 Goose viewing is looking good right now up through next month at the refuge. Fun fact: Merced National Wildlife Refuge hosts the largest wintering populations of Ross's geese and lesser sandhill cranes along the Pacific Flyway. Visitors may also have a chance to see great horned owl nestlings peeking from the nest and hawks exhibiting aerial courtship displays at this time. I popped the question to my now wife in front of ~1,000 of snow geese in Chincoteague back in Nov 2007. Large flocks are often found in/near Bombay Hook N.W.R. The "blue morph" ones are especially beautiful.
Snowy geese are wild!!!!! Really though I love them

6hLove the spectacle of whirling snow geese storms as they circle to land in a marsh or grain field! Only a month and a half away till they move north and we will watch them at Freezeout Lake here in Montana! My grandkids love going to watch them!
