Over the past few weeks, I've been diving deep into Linux, servers, APIs, Google Cloud, and systems design. I'm thrilled to share some of notable outcomes for this project! Key achievements so far: - Configured a Raspberry Pi as the backbone of an IoT system. - Successful integration Google Calendar API w/ Google Cloud. - Hands-on experience with Linux, OS installation, networking, BASH scripting, package and file management, and security practices. - Remote access: implemented VNC for remote graphical interfaces during headless setup, SSH for remote CLI access (found hostname IP via arp -a). - Remote Git pulling and source control using SSH deploy keys and BASH script. - Built a functional server in python for task management and communication. - Overarching system design with modularity. Moderate complexity codebase featuring hardware/software integrations. - Researched and configured hardware design (i.e. DSI connections) to provide optimal solution. - Debugging. Debugging. Debugging. A fair amount! Next steps for completion - Flashing hardware (hardware arrived this week) - Using microcontrollers to communicate with the Raspberry Pi server via JSON and python. - Finalizing the flexible, functional prototype that this has become! This project has been an amazing experience and has taught me lots about servers, hardware deployment, JSON, APIs, system design, Linux, networking, and the cloud. Thank you so much for reading. DM me if you have any questions or if you'd like to discuss technology.
