£1,015,584 What do you think this number represents...? Unfortunately, it is not my net worth 🤣 Instead, it is how much qualified pipeline I’ve helped generate since joining Birdie this year. After a very fast start to Q4, it was important for me to set myself a goal other than quota attainment. In November I realised that breaking the £1,000,000 mark was possible by the end of year, but would require a real push. As we wrap up 2024, it’s been encouraging to see the hard work this year materialise and to have ticked off another personal goal as a result ✅ Putting the numbers aside, what does it actually mean? It means that I’ve helped to open conversations for 100s of home care providers around how Birdie could completely transform the way they deliver care. The result? Many successful partnerships with care providers, who are now able to deliver a better quality of care to elderly adults using Birdie 🐦 What goals did you set yourself other than quota attainment this year?

As mentioned in this video at the ~7:00 mark, despite the overall labor force participation rate declining over the past few decades to its current level of ~62%, for individuals aged 25-54, it is near the all time high of ~85%. Much of the people not working are either 55+, under 25/in college or grad school, or are the caretaker of children or sick/disabled/elderly relatives. One interesting note this video cites is a study showing that West Virginia has counties/areas with the highest variance in labor force participation in the US at 35%, with some counties as high as 77%, while others as low as 42%. In the counties that it was high, the main reason they concluded why was that no one could afford not to work. In the counties where it was low, no one could afford to give up their social safety networks to move where the jobs are. And as one of the poorest states in the US, anyone that could afford to leave already has. This is a trend across the US, as not only do "golden handcuffs" keep people from switching jobs if it involves moving to a new house with a higher mortgage rate, but low wages keep people locked into either working those low-wage jobs, or not able to afford to work if they can't find available & affordable childcare/home healthcare.

National Move Over Day was last week — it's a great reminder of the importance of slowing down and moving over when you see Law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and other roadside workers along the side of a road. All 50 states have "Move Over" laws, yet one-third of Americans are unaware. When a vehicle with flashing lights is stopped on or next to a roadway, drivers approaching the vehicle should: 1) change into a lane not immediately adjacent to the vehicle, 2) or slow down to a reasonable speed if you’re unable to safely make a lane change. Remember, next time you see flashing lights on the side of the road or see roadside workers Move Over. It’s the Law.
