Menbere, a 33-year-old mother of three, defied all odds. Despite needing urgent mitral valve replacement surgery, she refused to give up on her unborn child and risked her life to carry him to term. Unable to afford treatment abroad, Menbere and her husband sought help from the Heart Attack Ethiopia team during our second mission trip in August of 2024. Among thousands of patients on the waiting list for cardiac care, the medical team at the Cardiac Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, chose Menbere for life-saving surgery. Piedmont Atlanta cardiac surgeon Dr. James Kauten and his volunteer team successfully performed the operation. This powerful video follows Menbere as she explores her treatment options, undergoes surgery, and returns home to her family. It shows the power of hope, the strength of the human spirit, and the impact of the dedicated volunteer medical team who serve with Heart Attack Ethiopia. Heart Attack Ethiopia wishes to thank Edwards Lifesciences and MAP International for the donation of surgical mitral heart valves used to save Menbere's life. #HeartAttackEthiopia #MedicalMission #Ethiopia #Hope #SecondChance #nonprofit #CardiacCare #MitralValve

Andrew Cameron, Professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine Dept. of Transplant Surgery, stated. “it’s choppy waters to criticize the system, because we are predicated on the public’s trust in terms of donations. If we are inflammatory in our critique of the system, we run the risk of fracturing public trust in a way that will do us a disservice….” “As we work through those complicated issues, we need to maintain the public’s trust and try to help them understand how we can all work together towards increased organ utilization. We have to be very careful about steering away from the notion that there are malignant forces out there that work against transplantation.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYUikwyu Coordination between OPO's and transplant centers saves lives. Right now, the equipment in use at HSC Women’s Hospital is more than 20 years old. The advancements in technology over the past two decades mean that upgrading to new tools will significantly enhance care—and even save lives. This Giving Tuesday, we’re raising funds for three vital pieces of equipment that will revolutionize care for patients at this hospital: · An advanced colposcope for more accurate cervical cancer screenings · A micromanipulator for precise, life-saving surgeries · An operative cystoscope to support high-risk pregnancies and treat endometriosis Every gift will help ensure our medical teams have the advanced tools they need to save lives and provide exceptional care for our community!
Thirty-four-year-old Maria Santos (name and case details are modified) is in her third trimester with her third child when a routine ultrasound reveals signs of placenta accreta—an abnormal attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall. This condition poses serious risks, including severe bleeding and the potential need for a hysterectomy. Dr. Margaret Burnett, Head of Gynecology at Health Sciences Centre, explains that if HSC Women’s Hospital could acquire an advanced surgical tool called a cystoscope, Santos’s medical team would be better equipped to evaluate and visualize her condition before and during surgery. “We need this detailed imaging to safely navigate critical surgery and control life-threatening bleeding,” she explains. TODAY on Giving Tuesday your donation will help us acquire a cystoscope and other pieces of life-saving equipment. AND your gift will be matched up to $25,000! Well, at my first ever job, once having a talk with one of our directors, she said Look, "this corporate world, it doesn't have any emotions". In the very beginning of my career, this tiny but i must say an extremely powerful statement taught me a lesson that made me unbreakable, unstoppable and strong headed professional. Emotions Vs Rationality Asim went for Rationality. Salary Vs Financial Freedom Asim went for Financial Freedom while being a jobian. And the reason behind making myself an extremely tough soul was the statement from a senior that changed my lenses and actually did let me see the real world and learn its reality. Well, in todays ruthless and hippocratic world, everyone loves financially weak people because they are more vulnerable yet demands high productivity rate. Wanna know how to deal? You gotta make a package of respect, professionalism and uniqueness and give it to them. My learning are as under; * Be honest as its the first step towards loyalty but do not compromise over self respect. * Make sure that you are not being exploited. * Your happiness must be in your hands. * Your salary cheque depends upon the affordability of employer not upon your skills as employer or owner charges different prices that totally depends upon the affordability of buyer not upon the quality of the product or service. That's a basic rule of selling something, not a rocket science. * Your committment, dedication, loyalty and interest get you win races and achieve you milestones not someone's estimations, perceptions and findings about you. * Last but not Least, come up with the numbers or solutions atleast, Not justifications. Have a great Sunday. Prayers, 😉💜💜

Every three minutes a child is born somewhere in the world with a cleft condition. In first-world countries, corrective surgery is usually done within the first 18 months of life. In Southern Africa, where safe surgery is not always freely available or accessible, a child may have to wait years for the chance to live a normal life. Depending on the severity, cleft conditions can be repaired in just 45 minutes. Your donation makes new smiles possible. Did you know? Speech difficulties are common among children born with cleft conditions. They may struggle to make themselves understood, and need speech therapy after surgery. What is CRPS? Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a form of chronic pain that usually affects an arm or a leg. Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) typically develops after an injury, a surgery, a stroke or a heart attack. The pain is out of proportion to the severity of the initial injury. CRPS, is classed as the most painful chronic pain condition that is known. It reaches approx 42 out of 50 on the McGill Pain Scale, higher than non-terminal cancer, higher than amputation of a finger without anaesthesia… In some research it has been said that CRPS Type II can reach as high as 47 out of 50.
