Have students changed...or do we need to change? 🍎 Wrapping up another year I reflect upon those last days in the in-person classroom when my whiteboards were wiped clean and I was truly "spent" having done my best to reach all students in each class throughout every day of each month of yet another exhausting school year... We might worry often: ❌students are harder to engage because of screen time ❌teaching today is harder than it's ever been ❌we're spinning our wheels with lesson plans and assessment ❌nothing's gonna change ❌we're talking to the walls ❌there's no way to truly manage the overwhelm because this is "how it is" now Some of this is true. But much of it has to do with our mindset, the way we think about ourselves and our capabilities. If you want to excel in the classroom, better cope with the challenges of 2024, and find that teacher-life harmony and balance you so deserve, create amazing teacher-student relationships in the current day and age, and shine in your unique school with your unique talents...your answers are here: 👇🏼 🌱teacher self-image 🌱teacher self-efficacy What do these concepts really mean and how do they apply? Chaos, glitter, and endless questions - just another day teaching early years learners! But seriously, if I didn't know how to teach, I'd probably still be trying to explain why we can't have ice cream for breakfast... again. In all seriousness, teaching early years learners has taught me so much about patience, creativity, and breaking things down into tiny, manageable pieces. It's a skill that's served me well both in and out of the classroom. So, to all my fellow early years educators out there, keep doing what you're doing - shaping young minds and making a difference one messy art project at a time! And to everyone else, remember that we all start somewhere, and a little bit of patience and creativity can go a long way. #earlyyearseducation #teachingtips #careeradvice"

At Windermere Preparatory School, we're proud to have been a part of Nord Anglia Education's Metacognition Research Project. This initiative focuses on enhancing students' self-awareness of their own thinking processes, empowering them to become confident learners and creative problem-solvers. At our school, we emphasize the importance of metacognitive skills in driving student engagement and inspiration. By embedding learning opportunities where students are encouraged to think about their thinking, we're preparing them to become the best versions of themselves and to make a positive impact on the global community. We look forward to sharing more in the coming months about how metacognition is being put into action at Windermere Prep, and how it's helping our students unlock their full potential. 🔗 Explore Nord Anglia’s Metacognition research here: https://lnkd.in/e6VXJXic #Metacognition #WindermerePrep #NordAngliaEducation #ThinkingAboutThinking
