🌟 **From Teacher to CEO: Preparing Middle School Students for Their Future Careers** 🌟 As educators, we hold the incredible responsibility of shaping the future—equipping our students not just for tests, but for life beyond the classroom. In my role as a Project Lead The Way teacher, I have the unique flexibility to inspire middle schoolers to explore career paths that excite them. Through resources like Career One Stop, our students delve into: 🔍 **Education Requirements** 🔍 **Daily Responsibilities** 🔍 **Median Salaries** 🔍 **Job Outlook & Demand** 🔍 **Cost of College/Trade School** 🔍 **Local Career Opportunities** This research empowers them to map out their futures, identifying steps to become more marketable in their desired fields. To further enhance this experience, I encourage students to connect with local professionals. They share these connections with me, and I send out invitations for industry experts to present in our classroom. This initiative not only bridges the gap between education and employment but also enriches our Careers2Classroom Initiative. Together, we’re not just preparing students for tests—we're preparing them for success in their future careers! What innovative ways are you preparing your students for the workforce? Let’s share our strategies and inspire one another! 💼✨ #Education #CareerReadiness #FutureLeaders #ProjectLeadTheWay #Careers2Classroom #TeacherGoals

Are you looking to grow your own teachers of the future? Imagine a classroom buzzing with energy, where every student is engaged and inspired. That vision starts with the teacher at the front, and it could be someone you've helped to nurture. 🌱 At Step Into Teaching, we're passionate about shaping the educators of tomorrow. Our programme is the bridge for graduates who are considering a career in teaching but want to test the waters first. It's a win-win: schools gain dedicated staff to support their teams, and graduates get invaluable, hands-on experience. 🏫✨ Here's how it works: - Graduates join schools for long-term placements, diving into the daily life of teaching. - They earn a salary while learning the ropes, so it's practical experience with financial stability. 💷 - Beyond the paycheck, there's a wealth of personal development and mentoring on offer. - Participants get to lead classes in subjects they're passionate about, honing their skills in a real-world environment. 📚 But it's not just about the teaching. It's about building relationships, contributing to extracurricular activities, and making a tangible difference in students' lives. And for schools, it's an opportunity to mould and invest in the teachers that align with their ethos and needs. The end goal? To provide a seamless transition into an Initial Teacher Training programme, setting the stage for a fulfilling career as an Early Career Teacher. And we're with you every step of the way, from matching graduates to schools, to preparing them for interviews and their new roles. Ready to play a part in developing the next generation of teachers? Open Letter to Undergraduates: Maximize your University Years - Focus on More than just Grades Graduating with first-class honors is an incredible achievement, but don't let the pursuit of academic excellence overshadow the valuable opportunities university life offers for personal and professional growth. While good grades can open doors, the skills you cultivate outside the classroom will truly set you apart in the long run. University is a fertile ground for developing essential life skills. Think of it as a "real-world simulator" where you can hone your leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills in a safe and supportive environment. Don't shy away from student leadership positions at any cluster you find yourself. These roles provide invaluable experience in decision-making, conflict resolution, and project management – skills highly sought after by employers. Engage in discussions and initiatives that champion student rights. This not only fosters a sense of community but also equips you with the confidence and communication skills to advocate for yourself and others effectively. From my second year while in school, I actively pursued leadership roles in various capacities ranging from the departmental level to the faculty level and at the association level. These experiences were instrumental in shaping my coordination, interpersonal, and communication skills, which continue to serve me well in my career today. The beauty of university is that it provides a forgiving environment to experiment, learn, and grow. Don't wait until graduation to start building these crucial skills. Employers value candidates who demonstrate initiative and a well-rounded skillset. What do you have to do? 👉 Go Beyond the Books: While academic excellence is important, prioritize developing essential soft skills through extracurricular activities. 👉 Embrace Leadership: Seek out opportunities to lead and manage teams. 👉 Find Your Voice: Participate in student advocacy to develop your communication and negotiation skills. 👉 Start Early: University is the perfect time to build a strong foundation for your future success. #universitylife #studentsuccess #leadershipskills #careerdevelopment #softskills

🚨 🚨 🚨 New Publication Alert! 🚨 🚨 🚨 Check out our recently published Explications of Theory article, "Introducing Elementary Students to the World of Work" (Ellot et al., 2024). https://lnkd.in/gj5axwWJ Career development promotes the development of key life skills, allows students to discover opportunities, connects school to work, encourages collaboration, and is instrumental in preparing students for postsecondary success. Despite this, many elementary educators struggle to seamlessly integrate career development activities into curricula. This paper will explore how to strengthen students’ foundational career skills, offer suggestions and resources on how to seamlessly integrate career development into elementary curricula, and how to celebrate and share student learning as elementary students discover their personal, career, and/or educational aspirations. #edresearch #educationalresearch #elementary #elementaryed #elementaryeducation #careerdevelopment #curriculum #curriculumdevelopment #socialemotionallearning #SEL #teaching #classroom #classrooms #vocationaleducation
