We pause to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the countless others forever impacted by this day.On that fateful morning, four coordinated terrorist attacks targeted key symbols of American strength and resilience: The World Trade Center in New York City: Two planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were hijacked and crashed into the Twin Towers, forever altering the iconic skyline and claiming thousands of lives. The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia: American Airlines Flight 77 struck the western side of the Pentagon, a symbol of the nation's defense, killing 125 individuals inside the building along with the 59 passengers and crew aboard the plane. Shanksville, Pennsylvania: United Airlines Flight 93 was hijacked with the intention of hitting another target in Washington, D.C. However, the brave passengers and crew fought back, leading to the plane's crash in a field, sacrificing their lives to prevent further devastation.
