🤣🤣 They’re not wrong, avocados have about a 0.0003 second window of perfect ripeness before they’re either way too hard or way too mushy 🤣 As usual, constantly impressed with Surreal’s genius marketing. Gets me every time! 🙌 #marketing #smm #marketingcampaigns #socialmedia #brandingdoneright #marketinggenius
IT'S A BAD DAY TO BE AN AVOCADO For years, they've been swanning around, like the belle of the breakfast-and-brunch-based ball. But no more. We're throwing down the gauntlet. We're storming their castle. We're muscling in on their turf. We're taking their throne. (We're now in Waitrose.) (Please buy us.)

Ooof. For anyone that wants to outstrip a competitor....this is a a best-in-class example on how to do it. Pick on the big guy and call them out for being a bit of a w*nker. in a less sweary nutshell...Take the big guy (something / someone / a business you're competing with) and you position against it. It means you're basking in the brand salience they already have so you can gain market share more quickly. Ben & Jerry's did it with Haagen Dazs. Virgin did it for a whopping 10 years against British Airways. If you want to be a challenger brand in your industry, give this a go...though maybe don't use avocados in your own ;-)

Take a minute and read this. vvvvv Entrepreneurship in times of uncertainty might be the MOJO this world just needs a bit more of. Check out what Crumbl Cookies is doing & you see a brand that's just on 🔥. Note the reality of these times as you seek to overcome the challenges that come in a year that may not "have gone to plan". Reinvention of your career might be the stubborn stuff of greatness. Case in point: If in Talent Acquisition stuck in a job search - consider the broader options: 1. Working at Recruiting Tech Stack vendors. 2. Working at HCM Tech Stack Vendors. 3. Switching to Sales. 4. Switching to HR. 5. Evaluation of your Total Addressable Market of your skill set. Do this frequently in your Career & you'll be 10 steps ahead AND tap the hidden job market where less competition lives. These are times to reinvent yourself......#WheresYourNext Inspirational stuff from Sawyer Hemsley & team. Bravo Crumbl.

I don't post many personal things on this site, but this was a life dividing event for students like me who attended Texas A&M at this time. No one will ever be able to describe what it was like to look at the stack twisted into a heap with deceased students still underneath. Lessons I learned from the bonfire collapse: - Local news cares about local people, and are the best source of unbiased information in times of crisis. - National news will show up demanding answers to why it happened while dead students haven't been removed from the accident. They don't really care, they want to sell their advertising space. -The real answers to why take time to carefully study, the independent report of this tragedy was presented more than one year after (if my memory serves me right) - "That is how we always did it" is not the answer to a safety concern. Anyone can identify a problem, no matter how much they know or don't know. Group think is a well known principle for a reason. Stop, talk it out, and come up with a solution together. - No matter what differences you have with others, you can come together when the need arises. Praying for the family of those who fell on that day.
As we prepare to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bonfire collapse, Aggies came together to clean Bonfire Memorial. What has since become an annual tradition, the cleaning of the memorial is a meaningful moment of reflection, teamwork, and remembrance for our Aggie Family.

Interested in honoring St Brigid's Day aka Imbolc? Here's a few suggestions. We stand at a threshold. In so many ways! Not least, between winter and spring. And what better way to honor thresholds than through St Brigid’s Day, which in Ireland is on Imbolc, the traditional time in the Celtic Wheel of the Year between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. They say that Imbolc is the season to Brigid is both from the Old Traditions as well as a Saint in Catholicism - so perhaps it is not surprising that she is the Goddess of the Thresholds! Really, she is a bit of everything, going betwixt and between a wide range of worlds, identities, and possibilities. She is the fair maiden tending the sacred fire; the warrior-smith-goddess who works with fire and metal and anvil to create weapons and cooking knives; the mother who was in between Christian and old Druid traditions; she whose lauder is always full of fresh butter and milk and bread; she of water as well as fire; she of mead and drink and dance and celebration. She who was accompanied by a white cow. Indeed there are those who say that she would travel around the farms all over Ireland with her white cow and bless animals and always have some extra oat bread for the hungry. Here’s some possible activities you might want to do: - Bake some Oatmeal Soda Bread - recipe at the end of this series! - Visit some local cows. Can you make them an offering of cornmeal? - Honor that which is in the womb - both literally and symbolically. - Gather with us on Imbolc to sing and paint and share - Craft a St Brigid’s cross. - Gather friends together to have a feast and sing some songs Here’s some other resources (from Shannon’s website) St. Brigit’s Oatmeal Soda Bread (recipe from Shamrock and Peach) - 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats (pulsed to fine) - 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra to knead the bread). - 3-4 Tbsp seeds (e.g., sunflower, pumpkin, and flax seeds) - 1 Tbsp sugar - 1 tsp salt - 2 tsp baking soda - 1 2/3 cups plain yogurt - 1 egg (beaten) How to make it: 1.) Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. 2.) Grind the oats in a food processor until they are fine. 3.) Combine the ground oats, flour, seeds, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Sift the baking soda into the dry ingredients. 4.) Beat the egg and combine it with the yogurt. Make a well in the center and stir in the wet ingredients with a knife until the dough comes together. 5.) Transfer the dough to a floured surface and turn it with hands to shape it into a round, kneading once or twice if necessary, being careful not to overwork the dough. 6.) Transfer the bread to a lightly greased baking sheet. Use a knife to mark the bread with a deep cross. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the bottom sounds hollow when tapped. 7.) Transfer to a wire wrack to cool and then wrap up the bread in a kitchen towel (this will help keep the bread moist). 8.) Best enjoyed straight away with Irish creamery butter.
