Throwback to 1994: The BMW #7Series makes navigation history 🛰️✨ In 1994, BMW redefined automotive convenience and precision with a revolutionary addition to the 7 Series: an European manufacturer's first factory-installed navigation system. No more wrestling with maps or struggling with directions—BMW brought a new level of innovation to the cockpit, making driving simpler, safer, and smarter. Just four years after the first-ever #GPS for cars hit the market, BMW was the first to integrate a navigation system into its premium line-up as a standard feature. Thirty years later, navigation systems are now standard in almost every vehicle. Yet, the forward-thinking spirit that drove BMW to introduce such a revolutionary feature remains as strong as ever. From advanced navigation to the latest digital innovations, we continue to lead the industry in merging intelligence with performance, ensuring every drive is as connected and intuitive as it is exhilarating. #BMWGroupSwitzerland #InnovationForTheRoadAhead

2023 BMW M2: You wouldn’t necessarily expect the fast BMW that is technically part of the company's lowly second tier range to be aiming at fastest BMW status. But then - as we’ve reflected - BMW’s M Division aren’t keen on anything but the fastest BMW model crown. Here, the M2’s looks convey brutal intent at answering that “what is the fastest BMW” question with a swift “the M2 is the fastest BMW”. But is it? M Division have shoe-horned their 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine out of the super fast M3 into the much smaller M2, to produce 453 bhp. If you specify the six-speed manual - please do to get the best out of this fast BMW M2 - you’ll find the limited 155 mph within reach when you’re on the nearest available long stretch of private road, making it easily the fastest 2-Series. But wait there’s more: add the M Driver package and you can reach 177 mph in your little fast rocket. Fastest car overall? Not quite, but what a car. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

So far, as a die-hard BMW fan and driver, I have managed to find excuses for BMW's oversized grilles, questionable design, questionable quality, confusing model lineup, and even exorbitant prices. However, I cannot explain or justify this. A performance sedan that is 0.2 seconds slower than the outgoing model and 25% heavier is a disgrace to a stellar lineup of cars that made BMW what it is today. https://lnkd.in/dyznUeK3

Introducing the heart & soul inside BMW. With the first-ever BMW Panoramic iDrive we are reinventing the cockpit! 💫 At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, we present a new era of BMW iDrive that will soon come to life in the BMW Neue Klasse vehicles. When BMW first introduced the iDrive system in the early 2000s, it was revolutionary. Since then, we brought many innovations into our cars, like the first head-up display in 2003. With twenty-five years of continuous learning and customer insights, the BMW Panoramic iDrive reflects not just technological progress, but a profound understanding of driver orientation and intuitive interaction. The centrepiece is the groundbreaking BMW Panoramic Vision that projects information across the entire windshield, while reflecting important driving information directly into the driver's line of sight. Together with the BMW 3D Head-Up Display, the free-cut central display, the steering wheel with shy tech controls and the all-new BMW Operating System X, which is the software behind, it turns the vehicle into a personalized, user-friendly digital space. Watch the video to get a glimpse into the future! And stay tuned for more to come. #BMW #CES2025

End of an Era: The BMW i3's Journey came to a to a Close prematurely 🚘✨ After nearly a decade of innovation and over 200,000 vehicles produced, BMW has decided to retire the i3. This bold move marks the end of an iconic era for one of the first mass-produced electric vehicles on the market¹. They decided to discontinue it in 2022. I think about how much I love and hate my stupid little car everyday. The i3 was more than just a car; it was a statement—a vision of the future. Its unique design and compact size challenged conventional expectations and paved the way for the electric revolution². Which I hated when I first saw it. As the EV landscape evolves, consumer preferences have shifted towards larger, more conventional-looking electric vehicles. BMW is responding by focusing on new models that align with these trends, ensuring that their EVs continue to meet the practical and aesthetic needs of their customers¹³. The design is definitely a different aesthetic than the rest of the brand. The legacy of the i3 will live on as I still own won. However, I wonder if any other model will be as iconic as BMW continues to innovate and lead in the electric vehicle space. The future is electric, and BMW is driving us there with style and sustainability at the forefront¹. #BMW #i3 #ElectricVehicles #Sustainability #Innovation --- Source: Conversation with Bing, 4/12/2024 (1) BMW Says The i3 Is Being Retired Because Customers Want ... - BMW BLOG. https://lnkd.in/gbD25dgz.
