We're looking for a Research Scientist to join the Nium team 👨🔬 👩🔬 If you're a research scientist with a passion for reducing emissions, and a generally good human - We want to hear from you 👇 Apply now: https://lnkd.in/d_mDDwu9 Key responsibilities • Apply specialised analytical techniques and catalysis knowledge to analyse Nium materials for heterogeneous catalysis. • Lab facility maintenance and management. • Operation of advanced materials characterisation instruments including (aberration-corrected) STEM together with EDS, EELS and in situ imaging; SEM; TPR, ICP-OES, MP-AES, FTIR, etc. • Image analysis and data analysis. • Maintain and develop experimental standards and procedures. • Design, develop and validate new analytical methods. • To report the results in a timely fashion via both written and verbal communication to ensure that understanding of observations has been received. Let's talk about "Culture Fit" 👇 Whoever you are in terms of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexuality - we will respect you and we’ve got your back. In the context of climate, our ego’s and identities have to be checked at the door, including founders- we do this by keeping eyes locked on the mission and reminding ourselves what is at stake. This is much bigger than all of us. We are three male founders. That's not ideal. So we hire for cultural add not cultural ‘fit’. If we all look sound, dress, love, act and think like each other - that’s a problem. We believe diversity of thought, healthy conflict and challenging status quo are hallmarks of a disruptive business, the kind that will eliminate emissions at scale. So we would rather you were different in some way. But if you are similar in some ways… that's ok too. It's about the work. Rather than working ‘for us’ you are working alongside us for the greater good, an inhabitable earth, infinite invention and a better tomorrow. #Werehiring #hiring #science #research #researchscientist #workwithus #sciencejobs #researchjobs

🌟 Embracing New Beginnings*🌟 After a course of 2 years and 10 months, on last week of Septemeber, I experienced a career milestone I hadn’t anticipated- I was a part of workforce reduction at QuantumScape along with other team members and fellow ex-colleagues. While it’s been a challenging journey, it’s also been one of self-discovery and immense growth and I would like to highlight the significant parts of it: ✅Support from my friends, family, network and ex-coworkers, managers have been both humbling and empowering. Thank you for helping me navigate this transition with optimism and renewed purpose and for critical feedback on my candidacy. ✅With a few interviews in this competitive market as an international, I came to confirmation from a state of realization that I have gained enormous skills and knowledge about process engineering, development, and optimization and am ready to level up. ✅I am good at mentoring and managing people, the former is something I have been doing post my undergrad and later is something I gained experience over the course of my job experiences. ✅As an employee on work VISA, I have until Nov 22nd to secure my dream job, and I would really appreciate spreading the word and reaching out to wider network out loud through this post. ✅I’m embracing this time to not only find a new position but also to invest in new skills and insights that will make me a stronger contributor. ✅To anyone else facing similar challenges, I am happy to provide the tools that has helped me so far in getting interviews and to the NCGs who have reached out for guidance, I am happy to help you out like before, slowly and steadily ✅I am scavenging for roles of senior process engineer, manufacturing engineer, materials engineer, or product engineer in the field of energy (battery and beyond), and semiconductors and would be happy to chat if there is an opportunity now or in the near future or just for creating a powerful network Thank you again to my network! #processengineer #manufacturingengineer #associatemanager #materialsengineer #batteryindustry #semiconductor #energyindustry #opentowork #processengineering #batterymanufacturing #cellengineering #cellmanufacturing #sustainability #renewablematerials #chemicalmanufacturing

UT Austin is an amazing school. While this opportunity covers way more than semiconductors, this could be a great opportunity for someone in our community. More specifically with regards to Semiconductors UT has a large amount of ongoing research as well as the emerging $1.4B Texas/DARPA NGMM packaging center run by the Texas Institute for electronics and a long history semiconductor equipment optimization and development. It is not a stretch to say that this research position will not only broadly impact the economic development of the state of Texas but more more generally Technology development world-wide at a critical time for our industrial base. Alll this work is amplified by strong workforce development initiatives and a state legislature that has invested >$1B is semiconductors alone. Finally, there is Austin itself, which is centrally located in the US and is a cultural and technology hub within a growing state. #UTAustin Beth Hood Alyssa Reinhart, Ph.D. #research #austin #careers #innovation #disruption

Thinking About a Change in Your Engineering Career? Let’s Talk. Been with the same company for a while? It might be time to consider what else is out there. You never know—there could be better opportunities with a different team or even in another industry. We’ve all heard the same lines from our bosses: “This is the best place to work” or “Other companies might offer more, but they can’t deliver on it.” But is that really the full story? One guy told me recently that his boss said: "Sure, we don’t pay the most, but everywhere else is so bad that no one sticks around long enough to even earn more!" It got me thinking—are you hearing the whole truth about what’s available out there? You might already be in a solid job with good pay, decent hours, and top-notch equipment. Or, there might be something better out there waiting for you. That’s where I come in. Let’s have a straightforward chat to see if you’re in the right place, or if it’s time to make a move. And if you’re thinking, “I’d like to, but I don’t want to waste his time…” don’t worry about it. A chat is never a waste, and I’d be happy to hear from you—no matter where you’re at in your career.

I often encounter the question, "Why should we hire a physicist?" Physicists are often stereotyped as scientists who study the natural laws of the universe, working in laboratories, writing equations on whiteboards, wearing ties, and contemplating the secrets of existence. While these traits may reflect certain aspects of our daily work, they do not capture the essence of who we are. At our core, physicists are classically trained problem-solvers. When confronted with a challenge, we don’t shy away; instead, we approach it with curiosity and determination, saying, “That’s intriguing.” We then leverage our extensive and diverse knowledge base to address it directly. As such Problem-solving is frequently regarded as the very essence of what it means to be a physicist. The unique value of hiring a physicist lies in this approach. We pursue solutions relentlessly, drawing from diverse fields, integrating ideas, and constructing innovative solutions. During graduate school, I built a fume hood using acrylic for model painting, soldering, and chemical-related work. However, I soon encountered practical challenges: inadequate lighting within the hood and poorly positioned helping hands that obstructed the workspace. Rather than accept these limitations, I reevaluated the design. I reinforced the hood with a skeleton for added stability and had a breakthrough idea: using a train track system to enable two-axis movement for lighting. By mounting a train track onto the skeleton and adding a perpendicular track, I created a system allowing the light to glide smoothly in both x and y directions. This innovation also enabled the integration of adjustable helping hands, significantly enhancing functionality. Below is an image showing the progress of the lamp in the fume hood. To further improve the design, I plan to incorporate USB ports for powering small devices during work sessions. Achieving the same capabilities with a commercially available lamp would cost over $500 and require significant adaptation to fit the system. This project exemplifies the essence of a physicist’s contribution: resourcefulness, adaptability, and a passion for creative problem-solving. Therefore, the real question isn’t, “Why should we hire a physicist?” but rather an invitation to reflect on your vision: Do you want your team or company to stagnate by relying on conventional thinkers, or do you aim to achieve greatness by welcoming those who think differently and unlock you organization’s full potential?

You probably don’t want to revolutionize the quantum industry. But just in case you do, I’m looking for a few unassuming geniuses for roles that are only somewhat likely to redefine technology as we know it—in Spain and the Netherlands, no less. We need a Quantum Research and Development Engineer, Senior Quantum Design Engineer, Fabrication Engineer, Quantum Measurements Engineer, Experimental Quantum Engineer, and a Quantum Production Technician. Just your typical, everyday quantum wizards. Imagine spending your days not just pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, but completely obliterating them. But hey, if you prefer the mundane, there are plenty of other jobs out there that involve pushing paper and attending endless meetings about font choices. We're not looking for just anyone. We need people who understand that 'quantum' isn't just a cool word to throw around but a real commitment to being confused at a higher level and about more important things. What will your day look like? Decoding the universe’s secrets before lunch, revolutionizing technology in the afternoon, and maybe, just maybe, changing the world by dinner. If you think you can fit into a team that barely fits into the conventional dimensions of physics, then we need to talk. Yes, the fabric of reality is complex, but your decision to apply doesn’t have to be. Not ready to make history? That's fine; history isn't for everyone. But if you are, send me a message. Let’s make the universe sit up and take notice. #QuantumComputing #TechJobs #HiringNow #Innovation #EngineeringJobs #QuantumTechnology #CareerOpportunities #SpainJobs #NetherlandsJobs #ExperimentalPhysics #TechTalent
