𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄-𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞! I've finally landed a role as a private contractor. I'm diving into the world of e-commerce! After months of searching and searching - dodging scammers who prey upon folks looking for a dev job, and navigating the stressful software engineering job market, I've been contracted to build and maintain an online store for a multi-million dollar equipment business (I can't share more at this time). While this won't solve the problem of needing a full-time role with benefits, this much-needed opportunity lets me flex my dev skills by building a full-fledged e-commerce site with a ton of inventory, managing stock, and crafting captivating content with photos and detailed descriptions. I'm thrilled (and a bit nervous) to start this journey and (hopefully) make a real impact on this 40-year-old business. Huge thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement—you guys rock! I will say this to all of those interested in how I did it. I put myself out there. I reached out to people, I struck up conversations with folks, and I leveraged every professional relationship I had (some personal as well -- 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑒!). By focusing on building relationships with folks, eventually, someone I was talking to said, "Oh! You should talk to so-and-so!" They made the introduction, and now I can pay the bills for a while. 😉😁 Networking is important. I didn't apply for this gig because there was no job listing for it. I networked and found someone who needed what I could do, wrote a professional proposal, and was nice and fair with my pricing. I'm still looking for a full-time role; however, I'm very excited about this role, as the company I am contracting with has a lot of potential. #softwareengineer #network #networking #techjobs

What I want to know is how to get more Startup credit from AWS :) my new startup Loocey is going to need a lot of cloud compute as we will integrate Gen AI, along with cloud based DB for each customer of Loocey, hence the need for a lot of cloud credit until Loocey gets funded. For what it's worth, I don't work at AWS, Google etc because less favorable to contractors(I like working with my taxes + finances/can crank out an extra 50-100k on c2c). That being said, if I did work at AWS and it required me to be there 5 days a week(like it does now), I would quit. So there's that. I worked remote before Covid, I'm special/cracked. Especially if people get to work on their own schedule, asynchronously with good tickets. Things go zoom 🏎️ If any of these orgs have a problem with remote teams let me head one of them and I’ll teach you how it’s done. Until next time. Stay cripsy.

“There’s no jobs for Jr Software Engineers out there!” NOT TRUE…But there are some major issues in today’s hiring market. 1. MISALIGNED FOUNDATIONAL EXPERIENCE: The majority of aspiring SEs are either: Recent CS grads (less hands-on exp); OR, Bootcamp grads (less theory). Meanwhile...Most enterprise companies who hire a ton of SEs are looking for CS grads that ALSO have hands-on experience already. 2. MISALIGNED TECH STACKS: The majority of aspiring SEs are only experienced in NodeJS and/or Python. Meanwhile…Most of the companies who hire a ton of SEs are using Java or C# backends. Companies using NodeJS or Python backends are often smaller and can't hire as many SEs. That’s why our Enterprise Accelerator is making a difference. A few years ago, I wrote a post on Quora about interview process for Principal Engineer role at Amazon. In that post, I shared my own experiences as the recruiter owning that hiring process, as well as tips from other Principal Engineers who had been through the process. Even today, I get weekly emails and messages from senior engineers who saw that post and want to learn more about the Amazon interview. We often end up talking about more than just Amazon. We discuss career development and interview skills in general. I really enjoy those conversations! Every time 10x engineers come up I think of the times I was briefly considered a 10x engineer by management. There are times I have come through and apparently pulled a big, complex solution out of thin air. I say "apparently" because that's what they thought. They didn't see the weeks of preparation and teamwork that went into a sudden, surprising outcome for them. They started expecting miracles every other day or week. This leads to burnout on the developer's part. Managers tend to think that the developer is holding back after this. They refuse to acknowledge the silent work and painstaking little habits that lead to large success. This situation never ends well. If you want 10x engineers it's likely you would not know what to look for, nor would you be able to handle them if you happened to stumble into one.

🚀 There is too much talk of being a "10x engineer". 10x engineers make a lot of money, usually 1.2x - 2x as much (disproportionate effort to gains tbh), but they're tech nerds who understand computers well but don't understand human nature, especially women, and therefore lose a lot of their money in relationship subsidies and especially divorces later on. The true 10x person is the woman who invests a little in seeing you through some difficult times when you're young in your 20-30s struggling to make it big and then cashes out on you 10-100x in the divorce later on once your stock has risen after years-to-decades of your sacrifices and hard work. 💰 She is the true 10x engineer.
