About us
Watts of Love is a non-profit organization that uses a proven, scalable model that empowers individuals to raise themselves out of the darkness of poverty through financial literacy training and solar lighting. Our work focuses on bringing monetary understanding and sustainable energy solutions to those who need them most. Watts of Love teaches our recipients the basics of savings and investment strategies. Financial literacy is crucial in helping people take control of their lives and break the cycle of poverty. By teaching basic financial skills, Watts of Love aims to create self-sufficient communities that can continue to thrive without long-term intervention. Our goal is to empower individuals and families to create a better future for themselves by giving them the tools they need to succeed. Solar light acts as the catalyst to change many aspects of our recipients’ lives. After receiving solar-powered lights, recipients can improve their health, education, and economic opportunities. Light enables children to study after dark, women to work and cook safely, families to stay connected, and alert others in emergencies. Watts of Love has impacted over half a million people across the globe, helping to create a brighter and more sustainable future for all. As of 2023, Watts of Love has distributed 100,000 solar lights around the world!

Solar lights offer a cleaner alternative to kerosene lamps, which release 230 million tons of CO2 annually and contribute to climate change. Each kerosene lamp emits up to 200kg of CO2 and black carbon, a major warming agent. Watts of Love's solar lights reduce harmful emissions and provide a sustainable lighting solution for households.
