    Making Homelessness Rare. Brief. One-Time.

🌟 Today, on the Feast Day of St. Louise de Marillac, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose compassion and dedication continue to inspire us. Born in 1591, St. Louise devoted her life to serving the marginalized and the poor, partnering with St. Vincent de Paul to found the Daughters of Charity. Together, they established hospitals, orphanages, and schools to provide care and education to those in need. Her legacy of love and service lives on as SVdP CARES continues our mission to end homelessness and uplift #neighborsinneed. Just as St. Louise empowered others to rebuild their lives with dignity and self-sufficiency, we strive to follow in her footsteps, offering support, hope, and a path toward a brighter future. Join us in honoring St. Louise's spirit by spreading love and hope on this special day. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. 💙 #FeastDay #StLouisedeMarillac #EndHomelessness

🌷 As we reflect on the Easter season, let's hold onto the spirit of hope and renewal a little longer. 🌟 Hope is a thread woven into the lives of those SVdP CARES serves, including John and Jackie, a remarkable couple whose journey embodies the resilience and strength we celebrate during this time. 🎖️ As an Army veteran with a career in law enforcement, John was used to serving others. In their kindness, John and Jackie much preferred to serve others than to be served, so "to be on the other side—it was hard," they said. They felt isolated and ashamed, hiding their homelessness from everyone—their coworkers, friends, even their daughter. 💑 During these dark days, Jackie refused to leave her husband’s side. She said they were a "unit," and she was determined they’d stay together no matter what. But many shelters have separate men’s and women’s areas. To stay together, the couple had to live out of their car and take shifts sleeping. This took a mental and physical toll, especially on John, who suffers from health issues. 🤝 This support was the lifeline that Jackie and John needed. When they finally connected with SVdP CARES, they were quickly placed into a hotel. Then our staff helped John and Jackie find permanent housing they could afford. 🏠 SVdP CARES hired a moving company to help the couple transition into their new home. This extra act of kindness—made possible by donations from friends like you—meant the world to John, who has bad knees and a bad back. 🙏 A year and a half later, John and Jackie are loving their home. They feel so grateful for the new life they have received. Their gratitude has moved them to give back, so Jackie serves meals to those suffering from homelessness once a week, and John always makes it a point to talk with them and share resources. This season of renewal and redemption is the perfect time to follow John and Jackie's example of service. Give a gift today at www.SVdP.CARE/Easter and #SharetheCARE! #endhomelessness #Hope #Renewal #HomelessnessAwareness 🌟

🌟 Incredible Act of Kindness Alert! 🌟 In a world where we can sometimes feel the glass is half empty, the 5th Avenue Church Of Christ just reminded us that compassion does a body good with a donation of over 100 gallons of milk. 🙌🥛 "They just blessed our socks off," said Chef Brian at the Food Center, "we have been struggling to get milk in for CARE Center guests because of budget restrictions." A tall glass of THANKS to our new friends for their remarkable compassion and commitment to making a difference in our community! 🎉🙏
