Realtor.com’s economists have unveiled their 2025 housing market forecast, and there are a few bright spots in the year ahead. Here’s what to expect: • Home sale prices will grow by 3.7%, mortgage rates will ease, but stay above 6%, and rents will remain virtually unchanged (-0.1%). • An increase in construction—with single-family home starts projected to rise 13.8%—is likely to boost existing for-sale home inventory higher, which is expected to grow by 11.7%. This combination of trends signals something we haven’t seen in nearly a decade: a more balanced market—benefiting both buyers and sellers alike.
