  • Meet Mira Seekins, PT, DPT, a physical therapist in our acute rehabilitation unit at the newly opened Northwest Specialty Hospital! “I’m most excited for the new rehabilitation equipment and expanded space at Northwest Specialty Hospital that will allow for us to maximize our services to the community,” she said. “I was drawn to physical therapy as a career through a combination of my personal experiences with injury rehabilitation and my time in the Army National Guard. Recovering from my own rugby injury deepened my passion for understanding the complexities of rehabilitation as I witnessed the value of the profession and the capacity to make such a meaningful impact in the lives of others.” To learn more about acute rehabilitation services at Northwest Specialty Hospital, visit http://spklr.io/60422Hc0.

  • Join us in congratulating Nicholas Sorensen, RN, admit discharge nurse at Northern Nevada Medical Center, for completing the LeaRN Clinical Ladder certification, a program designed to elevate and enhance the nursing profession. “I was interested in pursuing LeaRN Clinical Ladder because it provided the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with other healthcare staff to empower them to provide great care of our patients,” he said. “There are many situations and circumstances that arise in nursing and this program is an excellent opportunity for everyone to grow and learn from each other and their experiences.” As part of the program, nurses must create a project that is aimed at improving processes. Nicholas focused on standardizing surgeon preferences to be the same for each procedure and creating a resource that nurses from any department can use to know what each surgeon’s post-operative care includes. Congratulations, Nicholas!
