FROM THE FLORIDA CULTURAL ALLIANCE: 2025 Bills Concerning Arts & Culture We need to appeal for amendments more favorable to the sector on both of these. Suggestions to begin conversations with lawmakers are in the adjacent document. HB1011/SB1524:Changes programs may be funded by state arts and culture grants, changes who is eligible to apply, combines Cultural and Museum Grants and Culture Builds Florida Grants into one list, and more, SB482/HB665: The bill prohibits counties and municipalities from requiring applicants to install, pay for, or reimburse costs related to works of art as a condition for processing or issuing development permits or orders. SB482/HB665 have been referred the committees listed below. If your Senator or Representative are on one of these committees and you're meeting with them, remember to include your interest in seeing a "friendlier to the arts" version. Don't take your GRANTS for granted. Local Arts funding is at jeopardy.
About us
Arts Action Alliance is a volunteer arts advocacy organization directed by leaders representing hundreds of organizations and individuals committed to enhancing our vital arts community. We have organized in effort to keep local arts funding in Miami-Dade county ALIVE. Our County ARTS grants are in danger of being cut! We cannot let that happen. Many of us have already been hit with the elimination of our State arts grants due to the Florida Governor's veto of all cultural grants. We must ask Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the Board of County Commissioners to RESTORE arts funding for FY 2024-2025!

🎨 Arts Adovcates 🗣, Last week, we wrapped up our October statewide advocacy call. If you joined us live, you may have heard the $0 referenced legislative budget request, but here’s the correction: This is NOT the Governor’s official budget recommendation. It’s the starting document that often shapes his final budget. So, what’s next? ✅ We’ve got a customizable letter template ready for you to reach out to your elected officials. In the first paragraph, it’s clear that this $0 request could be a red flag — edit the text in red with your unique contributions (mention recent events, impactful stories, or invite officials to upcoming events). ✉️ Copy, paste, and make it your own. Find it here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eK-5ZKRN Let’s channel this news as motivation, not dismay. Your impact is powerful. As they say, "We must bake the cake at home." 👉 As always, we’ll share updates soon to keep your advocacy timely and informed. #MIAMIDADEARTS #ARTSADVOCACY #FLORIDAARTS #STATEWIDEADVOCACY #ARTSACTIONALLIANCE

It was a privilege and an honor to address, Miami Dade, county, commissioners and mayor, Love last night during the budget hearing for the 2024-25 fiscal year. As an advocate for the arts, working in the arts industry, I felt it was important to speak up. So many incredible organizations are doing important work, and it is a difficult job to balance the budget to ensure that all residents get the services they need. I wanted to highlight the economic impact the arts, I hope my message was clear in 60 seconds I was given to speak.

We hope you’re all still riding the high of our incredible victory for the arts community! While we didn’t restore 100% of the funding, securing $1.5 million of the $2.5 million at risk is a huge accomplishment! 🙌 While we celebrate this win, we still have work to do. Let’s keep up the momentum by staying engaged and building strong relationships with our local officials. Together, we can ensure ongoing support for the arts. 🎨 How You Can Help: Send a Thank-You Email 📧 Let’s show gratitude to the mayor and county commissioners who stood with us. A simple thank-you can go a long way in reinforcing their support for the arts. (Template below!) Stay Engaged 💪 Keep advocating for arts funding. Attend future hearings, share the importance of the arts, and continue to champion our cause. Invite Your District Commissioners to Your Events 🎟️ This is a perfect opportunity to engage our leaders with the arts community! Invite your district commissioners to experience your events firsthand. When they see the impact and value of the arts in person, they’ll feel the importance and lasting impact of continued support. Find your commissioners email here to send your thanks and add them to your invite list: https://lnkd.in/eN4Q-xMh
